So it gets to 01:15 and I don't particularly feel like going to bed so I pick up my guitar. I've been playing for a few years but still learning and still improving, which is nice. Not quite a professional yet, one day though hopefully. Apologies for the audio quality as well, an acoustic guitar next to a computer microphone trying to play in a manner that won't wake my housemates does not a good recording make. I did amplify it somewhat though because otherwise it would be far too quiet.
This is an MP3
I played for just over 20 minutes, some things by Mike and some things by me, including the odd bit of talking inbetween pieces. There are the occasional 1am sort of mistakes but I'm pleased with how I'm coming along. Any thoughts or opinions and whatnot welcome.
The "setlist", if you like, is as follows:
00:42 Mason Williams - Classical Gas 03:22 Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells part 1 extract 04:22 Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn (kinda) 05:03 Mike Oldfield - Serpent Dream 07:17 Morti - Intransigence Opening 09:40 Morti - Daybreak 11:10 Morti - Red Sea 13:27 Morti - Edge 14:47 Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells part 1 extract 15:28 Mike Oldfield - Red Dawn 17:04 Morti - Untitled
Obviously it's really all played by me but since only half of it was written by me the setlist credits the composers.
It's a bit random and different but I hope someone enjoys it and if someone is vaguely impressed by my interpretation of Classical Gas (or maybe even one of my own pieces) then that'd just be lovely.
My theory is that occasionally posting my playing like this will be somewhat of an encouragement. Maybe.
Also, I wonder, could this sort of thing work at an open mic night? I can sing a bit but I prefer instrumentals these days. Food for thought.
