Some dude just tried to blow up a jet with a crotch bomb. Had he succeeded, our world would be a nightmare almost as 9-11. A new president, proven brilliant replaces a dumb hick. A VERY sexy republican VP loser writes a book. Incredible year. Personally I was pretty miserable this year. See previous posts about my dwellings, soon to change!! Mike Jackson died as well as David Carradine under "suspicious" circumstances. A scant few good movies came out. What can my Tubes add? Tell me of 2009 before it's over? Was it good? The H1N1 flu was not the pandemic I(and the media) thought. I never even got a cold. MO showed some old man crotch photos on a boat and remixed TB1. I bought a 12 string acoustic. Please, tell me of 2009 while there is time......Your fav. experiences, worst fears, fine moments, piss-poor moments.
Time's up in less than 2 days.
Jimbo

Well, I'll leave my own first post. It was a good day today. Just me and Eddy. We played and cuddled a lot. He is, like, a companion of champions.
I have been very impressed with Obama for his first year. This guy has stamina like no president in my 48 years. Constantly present on TV, always ready, making more appearances on TV than one would expect(talk shows etc.) I am impressed. The recession has calmed but not gone. Terrorism is up, but being dealt with. Personally, if I was on that plane, I would have gone for that guy's jugular with my bare teeth.
Musically, I've, like an old timer, found it dismal. Except for Miley Cyrus who has an appeal no male can deny.
Patrick Moraz was overly discussed(my fault). You all drove me to the point of hurling chunks with MEGA discussion of Jarre.
We got a remaster of "Days Of Future Past". So many felt ripped off by the MO TB1 re-issue. What else? C'mon.....get this thread rolling......

You've forgot the best !
Our very lovely governments have been ready to save the banks just when the financial crisis has arrived. But to save our planet and the future of our kids , there is nobody and nothing . Only save , protect this outdated and unfair financial system !!.. I'm just asking to me a question : what will be the next stage of the announced disaster .

2009....hmmm.
Not a lot really happened.I was very glad to be able to watch America admit that there are people of a different ethnic background who can do the job just as well (and certainly better than an ex govenor of Texas who signed more death warrants than anyone before or since-correct me if i'm wrong). And he was inducted on my birthday too which gave me hope for the future.
We were all going to die of swine flu.Well we're all still here although i have a colleague who got very ill and was in hospital for best part of a month.Anyone remember how we were all going to die of bird flu and before that (in the UK at least)foot and mouth?Difference being loads of animals were killed.I'll never ever forget seeing the 'funeral pyres'of all the cattle that were killed in 2001 while on a train going through Wiltshire.
Idiots are trying to kill people in the name of religion.
And finacially the world's buggered again.

What's changed?Abolutely nothing as far as i can tell.

Personally i've had a fairly good year though.Ok my band imploded which was devastating at the time but the upside is i'm looking to start a new prog-type band in the New Year.
2010....another year and another decade.Let's see if anything changes on a global scale and if a general election is called in the UK let's see if the prat who is in charge gets booted out.Hell i'd happily vote for the green party if there's the slimmest if chances that Brown goes!

It's funny, but back in 2000 everyone was very pedantic in pointing out that 2000 was the last year of the 90s. Not so now. 2010 is the last year of the noughties, for what it's worth.

Really sad ( or maybe funny too , i don't know anymore now ) because we are now in the same configuration that we could be before the first and the second world war . Everybody knows that we could , by misfortune , get another world war but again nobody does anything to prevent this situation ....

Let's hope common sense prevails.Britain's relations with China have soured following the execution yesterday of a British guy with (it's allegedged)mental health problems convicted of smuggling heroin into China. Not sure how i feel about this without knowing whether he was mentally ill or not.Obviously i am against the death penalty but each country has it's laws. What concerns me was China's aggresive stance about Britain's attempts to intervene. They were very much "mind your own business".Er hang on it IS our business as the guy was a British national and if the boot was on the other foot than they would have tried to intervene and have made damn sure the guy's mental health was at least assesed and then presumably that the body would have been allowed to be sent home.China's relationship with the world as a whole has become very important since their immergance as an industrial super power with nuclear capabilities.I just hope that they realise they need to play by certain rules of justice that the rest of the world is supposed to.The USSR is long gone now.

:/ Sorry but you're dreaming , i'm not so optimistic as you are ! This poor humanity .. ( supposedly humanity , i can't see any humanity in Humans ) is dieing more and more . But don't worry , Earth will be there again a long time after that humanity will be already died , Because i think this is the earth the first which goes to kick us out of her surface ! Even if we use the atom . Nature is stronger than us , thanks God !

I know that (Mother Earth was there long before we buggered it up and she'll be there long after we're gone).Even Neanderthal man lived for a hell of a lot longer than we've been here so far and we've managed to make a bit of a hash of it since we decided we own the earth and all other animals. And i know who i blame there but i really don't wish to cause offence to anyone here as you're all my friends.
I was kind of being sarcastic cos really there is very little humanity about anywhere. It's just there's some small pockets of mankind that do still give a sh*t about justice and human rights (i'm one of them).
I'm British and our history of human rights is piss poor but at least we've kind of learnt a lesson. We just do what America tells.

Got to have some optimism or the whole world will fall around your ears.

It's sad, but funny too, when our politicians can't find any money for schools or hospitals, but find billions to bail out tjheir city friends. Who now are paying themeselves millions in bonuses.

A friend told me - owe the bank £100 and they own you. Owe them a million, and you own them.

On the Mike front - similar stuff - nothing new, just found a billion old things to flog.

On my personal front, moved my wife and kids away from our home town to work with my step dad. Jury's still out on wether it was a good idea.

Hummm...2009?

General:
-the economic crisis that has made Europe and US suffer a lot and you can see clearly the effects nowadays
-swine flu
-the lack of capacity of our governors to try to think about nature's issues in Copenaghen recently
-Brazil's economical stability even with the crisis...but there are many many issues that we haven't changed yet and still drives me nuts (violence, poor x rich differences, traffic jams that stop my hometown...)

Personal:
Of course,my moving from Brazil to England to do my MSc Biotech, which was on my wishlist for years, and only this year, after I finished my teaching license,I could finally invest it...although the exchange rates between british pound x brazilian real are nice for me at the moment,I would have come here,no matter what...I did need to boost up my CV,almost 3 months since I've arrived here,I feel very confortable here, mum was really surprised and pleased at the very same time when she saw my SMS, "I just arrived home!" when I arrived at my flat here, home has become a very difficult word for me nowdays to define, but now England is my home, where I live and study.

Mike-related:
2009 was the year of a very naughty naughty Mike on those sexy pics in the Bahamas, wohoo! Forget the mess and fuzz about TB signed limited ultimate edition...

Hey - I don't go along with that kind of talk. Humanity gets long in the mouth sometimes, and we humans tend to give away too much of our energies to fear and anger, rather than inspiration and mutual trust IMO. Redressing the balance needs work I think though.

On another level, and talking about this forum, think it took a bit of a body blow this summer to be honest, not so much with the lost merchandise, but how Mercury dealt with matters - ignoring the problem or fobbing people off. They behaved badly (probably out of fear) - and it's been a blow to the fans, who seem more subdued to me of late, probably still dusting themselves off, but life goes on - and the music is still trif.

So Happy New Decade to you -
Chicane - Poppiholla :)  :)  :)
