Just been flicking through the "Sunday Express" and came across a preview piece for a New In Depth Rock Documentary.
Its Taken 2 Years to put together and is on for 7 Episodes.
It involves a in depth look through 7 ages of Rock and has hours of rare and unseen footage apparently.. Pink Floyds Rodger Waters and Dave Gilmore are involved as well as Debbie Harry Lou Reed Noel Gallagher amoung others.. It focuses on Artists who made big immpressions in there own particular "Age".. There wont be short snaps of Music either they will be playing full tks etc as well..Unseen Footage of Roxy and Pink Floyd sounds tasty to. It starts on May 19th.on BBC2... Not Sure if Mike will get a Mention but he may well do who knows ?? :D

Curious.  Did they mention what the 7 ages were?  Like "The British Invasion" "Hair Bands', "Grunge Rock"???

too much on hendrix,  to be completely honest with you, Im a guitarplayer, and still cant see what all the fuss is about.

Sevenages of rock list of artists

They dont seem to mention mike, Floyd's dark side of the moon is apprently more important. :/

I agree saw the last 20 minutes of the first one seemed to focus on Jimi Hendrix, yes that guy could play guitar but I do think personally  he's somewhat overrated   :O , Mike Brian May and Dave Gilmour play with more emotion and passion IMHO , most of Jimi's playing seemed to me to be about gimmicks:p  .

Where is Mike in there??? He's only had the biggest selling instrumental album of all time.  The second prog is "Art Rock" but isn't Mike playing virtually all the instruments himself an art form??? He isn't Glam , like Bowie or Roxy Music, nor for that matter are  Genesis and Pink Floyd, Queen would also fit in there as they truly made rock an art form, who else apart from the late great Freddie Mercury could combine elements of  Rock/Metal, Prog, Glam, Punk, Rockabilly, Disco, Funk, Soul etc in their music and make it work        :D

BTW are ELP mentioned as they also made the 70's rock.

As far as "rock" is concerned, it is. :)

The idea that Hendrix is supposed to represent 'the first age of rock' is something I can't get my head round at all. I watched the first half of the first programme, then switched off. Just not my kind of thing.

I guess picking the "Featured Artists" was always going to be a bone of contention with a lot of people but I guess It could of been to Sprawling to mention the many Hundreds of other worthy contenders... However from a Historical point of view the 1st Episode was a lot better than I expected as it wove in the Stones Beatles Who Cream Howling Wolf  into the mix.
I didnt know much about Hendrix before but at least I feel educated on his Musical Roots and performances now and how it made the Impact back then.. I guess it was the "Live" act that really made him such a star.. Looking forward to next Weeks Mostly as that should be the Most interesting Episode anyway :cool:Im more suprised they didnt include an "Electronic & Synths Age" as this covers massive ground and a big influence

They probably only had footage of Mike hiding behind a wall  :p  hence not enough to make a slot with.

Do you think if Mike was more public about his work he might of been mentioned in the programme?
