I've seen a few postings about the different vocalists on "Magic Touch," Max Bacon & Jim Price.  The only copy of Islands that I've ever had is the version released on CD in the U.S. in 2000.  According to the liner notes for this release, the singer on "Magic Touch" is Jim Price.  Who is he?  The only reference I can find about him on the internet is the fact that he sings on "Magic Touch."  Does anyone have any information on his other musical endeavors?

According to Wikipedia, he's a horn player (trombone/trumpet), producer and occasional vocalist. See here.  ;)

Thanks Ugo, but I don't think the Jim Price described on the Wikipedia link is the same Jim Price on "Magic Touch."  Notice that there is no mention of "Magic Touch" on this entry.

Does anyone have definitive background information on the Jim Price that sings on "Magic Touch"?

That's the wrong Jim Price.

Jim Price is Scottish actually, from Rutherglen. Is a bassist/vocalist. Is part of a band called Southside Jimmy currentley.

Jim also toured with Mike during the promotional tour for Islands as a bassist.

You can check out Jim's website at:

I always wondered who were the people in Mike's playback band in 1987.
The bass player was Magic Touch vocalist Jim Price who calls himself Southside Jimmy:

His voice has changed a lot, after 25 years!! And it is funny that in his bio he says he toured Europe extensively with Mike, given that there were no gigs at that time, only tv playbacks!!  :p

Other members in the band were presumably Raphael "Raf" Ravenscroft on saxophone of "Baker Street" fame, Andy Mackay from Roxy Music on oboe and Max Bacon from GTR on backing vocals.

Don´t know yet who the drummer was.

Definitely not.

It could be probably Tony Beard who play drums on some of the Islands songs.
