ive recently bought the Zoom 505II pedal, and when i play it through my amp, i get a crackling noise every so often. im using a Fender 15W amp..any ideas on what my problem is? iv already ajusted sound leves on the patches, so i dont that that is the reason im getting a crackling sound. any help would be great.

It depends on the kind of cracking, and when it happens. It can often be due to a bad connection somewhere, either because of dirt in switches or pots, or loose wires/bad solder joints.

If the crackling only happens when the 505II is plugged into the amp then you can rule out the problem being with the guitar, and probably also rule out the 505II itself (am I right that it only has one output?). I assume that as it's only just started happening after you bought the unit, that the problem isn't with the guitar or amp. It may be one of the leads you're connecting the unit to the amp with, or a dirty socket on the 505II.

It could of course be something entirely different - it depends, like I say, on the exact nature of the problem. I hope this helps, anyway!

thanks for the help Korg.  :) i checked all the connections lastnight, and changed the cords i was using to newer ones. which solved the problem. oh, and the pedal has 2 input's, one for the expression pedal and one for the guitar.

Heh,

I hope you're having fun with the 505 II. I find it to be quite versatile (though of course, not as good as a row of dedicated pedals). The only thing I wish it had is a better signal-to-noise ratio, so I can use it as a microphone preamp... But I guess you can't ask for the world when you pay $100 CDN.

Brandon Blume (aka Musically Inspired), guitarist extraordinaire, posted here: http://tubular.net/cgi-bin....3;t=136

He mentions that there are patches listed in the tabs section of this website.

Also, when I asked him this same question myself some time ago, offered these:

Modern Oldfield Wah Distortion 1 (keep in mind
for this one you'd need an external wah pedal):
Comp/Limit/Wah=P1
Dist=Pu
Gain=30
EQ/Phase=41
Contour=0
ZNR/AMP=A9
Mod=off
Dly/Rev=H9
Time=6

Modern Oldfield Wah Distortion 2:
Comp/Limit/Wah=P9
Dist=bG
Gain=30
EQ/Phase=10
Contour=10
ZNR/AMP=4
MOD=off
DLY/REV=H5
Time=1

Modern Oldfield Wah Distortion 3 (best):
Comp/Limit/Wah=P1
Dist=Pu
Gain=30
EQ/Phase=20
Contour=-10
ZNR/AMP=A9
MOd=off
DLY/REV=E3
Time=37

Oldfield-like Distortion 1:
Comp/Limit/Wah=L9
Dist=MS
Gain=Pd
EQ/Phase=41
Contour=-10
ZNR/AMP=A9
MOD=off
DLY/REV=H9
Time=6

Oldfield-Like Distortion 2:
Comp/Limit/Wah=Off
Dist=Pu
Gain=30
EQ/Phase=20
Contour=-10
ZNR/AMP=A9
MOD=off
DLY/REV=H1
Time=10

A Close Clean:
Comp/Limit/Wah=P9
Dist=Ac
Gain=30
EQ/Phase=20
Contour=0
ZNR/AMP=9
MOD=off
DLY/REV=H9
Time=10

Another Clean:
Comp/Limit/Wah=L8
Dist=off
EQ/Phase=41
Contour=0
ZNR/AMP=off
MOd=off
DLY/REV=R1
Time=6

TB3 Source Of Secrets-like guitar:
COMP/LIMIT/WAH=L9
Dist=off
EQ/Phase=25
Contour=0
ZNR/AMP=7
MOD=L1
DLY/REV=H9
Time=10

I've had my Zoom for a few months now (less than 6), and I'm having lots of fun with it too. There are definitely limitations, but it's quite good, I think. I would suggest just playing around with them to find your "own" sound that speaks best for you. What I can also suggest is that after the euphoria of having 10 kagillion guitar effects at your disposal wears off, that you should try to keep your main guitar sounds simple, using effects for colour.

thanks a lot for the patches, tran. :) im finding that im really inspired to write more riffs etc. lately, thanks to the pedal, but i still think theres no better sound than a guitar and an amp. nothing more. but for now, i will stay in my euphoric state. lol
