TOBY Group: Members Posts: 1562 Joined: May 2002 Posted: Mar. 08 2003, 12:58 I'm currently transcribing an interview that went on between Orbital's Phil Hartnol and Mike in Ibiza in 1996, it was originaly published in Q magazine. It's quite funny and revealing, they seemed to get on quite well and the two went clubbing together. Personaly I'm not much of an Orbital fan, I've seen them live a couple of times and I've not been to impressed. I think The Chemical Brothers, Leftfield and Underworld all do a similar thing much better, I find Orbital's music a bit lacking in any real character but they have done a few good tracks. Strangely enough I think there's more in common between The Chemical Brothers and some Mike stuff, not in an obvious way but The Chems have said on many occations how influenced they are by 70's prog/eletronica. Like MO The Chems also have a nack for getting the most out of a few simple yet highly melodic melodies and building them up to great effect. Back to top

Some of my favorit ones are Halcyon and on and on, The Box, and of course Little fluffy clouds. I think especially the last one is best compared with Mike's music.
