Ok, it's nice to have the edits in good quality. But I don't understand why they're ignoring the people's interest in Nuclear...

Does Mike still need Universal if he uses Facebook and iTunes?

That's a good point. I thought he had "Taken control" of his official website too, but he appears to do very little with it, so what was the point?

I am glad about this release because I prefer the single edit of Sailing to the album verison, the verses don't seem to flow aswell as the single edit does.

    Thanks for the link Alex!

Hmmmmmm, It was a nicer edit than Moonshine, which was just plain weird, IMO.  It was odd to come in on the second verse of MOTR.  It might be to Mike's advantage to use another set of ears for the edits.  Sailing is the only one I think he got right.... cutting out all the talking over the music and the shaky first verse that is repetitive.  Nuclear, as it has become quite an international hit, would have been a more ideal choice, than MOTR, IMO.  He's pretty much releasing singles in album track order.  Since it isn't my music, I don't have any say!  Just my two-cents worth.

Thanks for the link HUANCRY :) Just shorter versions, radio edits for "statistical listeners" who probably won't remember a single note from what they have just heard :) The album versions are much more interesting/worth attention. It's such a pity Mike doesn't want to tour... My dream set would be: Part 1 - Tubular Bells (1973, in its entity) - intermission - Part 2 - chosen songs from Mike's whole career (with Luke + some female vocalist on stage). What do you think? :)

I used to have the excuse of not owning a suitable digital device, but I have to face the truth that I can download things these days.  The process seems to involve large, if variable, amounts of data - the next truth to face is that I really should source some broadband ;)  - and I've yet to buy music this way.  You'd think the first available release by my favourite artiste would be the catalyst, but I've left the first two pass me by.  Part of the reason remains the notion of what I'm getting for my money.  I should be feeling the same as those few times that I was able to buy cassette or CD singles in or near to their release dates - a sense of contribution to a larger chart-seeking effort, just without a physical object to remember the experience by.

Leaving aside what emotional attachment I can find to a download, I had planned to break my duck when assuming that Nuclear's release would be imminent.  I'll make a call on what the EP will mean to be in a few weeks time - if it drains £10 worth of data, then I will forswear this modern era!   :p

We would all hope that Mike has one of his trademarked changes of heart, iwaniuch, and elects to tour at least once more.  And playing Don Alfonso!  Rite of Man!  Speak!... :D

I will go out on a limb about what I hope is happening at the moment.  Team Mike has been alerted to what's been transpiring across the web these last five weeks.  A great number of diverse people have expressed admiration for one of his tracks; perhaps one that he hadn't necessarily planned to highlight with an official individual release.  For all that, as Sailing and Moonshine have again demonstrated, just releasing Nuclear gives no guarantee that a number proportionate to those who watched Hideo Kojima's trailer will be exposed to it.  I've lost count of how many singes I've steered into the upper reaches of the charts  , so I'm a little rusty as to what it can take to get things noticed.  Enter Caroline Monk and Virgin, hopefully.  In the UK, exposure via BBC Radios 2 and 6 Music are a distinct possibility again but to truly get it out there, boats need to be pushed.

So is Caroline's next visit to the Bahamas going to coincide with a shoot for a video?  Can Mike be persuaded to make a series of personal appearances to talk about and play or mime along to a track or two?  Will there be gaps in Luke Spiller's commitments to The Struts to allow him to join in, across Europe and beyond?  If someone knows someone at one of the USA's night shows, then it could be time to get busy! :)

There is no such thing as an iTunes EP. EPs are vinyl, or in a pinch CDs.

    Marketing garbage.

EP stands for Extended Play... How can a digital download be "extended"? The point of the phrase is that the physical item contains more than would be normal for the media.

So EP singles would have three or four tracks instead of the usual two. Ep CD singles would usually have at least 4 tracks- usually differing versions of the original and instrumentals/non album tracks. (But not enough to BE an album)

A download is just a download.

I agree 100%. And there were wonderful MO EPs:

    Mirage (7"), MO's Christmas EP (7"), On tour 1980 (7"), Amarok x-trax
(3" CD)...Unfortunately, new generations of fans are not even aware that vinyl records existed (and still do!;)

Exactly... hence, a download cannot be an extended play.
