TOBY Group: Members Posts: 1562 Joined: May 2002 Posted: Aug. 05 2004, 13:50 Good to see yet another picture of Mike looking 'Happy'     On another note I just read an interview with Liam Howlett of the Prodigy and aprantly he wrote and produced the whole of his new album on a laptop using (I think) the same program. Stuff done like that does have a particular 'feel' to it I think. Back to top

Back in 1966, some guys went into the studio and said "hey, I just figured out how cool it is to play tapes BACKWARDS. Nobody ever did it, you know? Plus, you can make loops out of these tapes, then make them record themselves until they couldn't take them anymore! So we can use these loops in to a song. Let's just... uh, call some guys to hold pencils to hold the tape loops while they're playing... it might work." Nowadays, you just take a finished loop and use it exactly the way it's supposed to be used. Why don't people use machine in ways they SHOULDN'T be used, like people were making tape loops and playing them backwards back in 1966? Humans should dominate, torture and rule over machines, not the other way around. If Mike has been paying attention to those people, they I shouldn't be so frightened, after all. He might have seen the reaction people had to Tres Lunas, so who knows, there are possibilities that he'll put serious effort in making something unique, this time around. I just don't want to expect too much at this point. I just get a negative thing from the word "loops", because it's been horribly vulgarised these days. Maybe people have been saying that music would die for some time, yeah, but it's always a possibility.
