Hum... I don't like boolean operations much, they almost always break the homogeneity of the mesh, making it more difficult to work on it later, and don't always work as expected.
If you accept my humble opinion, and at the risk of sounding pedant or too fussy , I would have beveled the curve with two circles (inside the same object, like a 2D ring) to make it hollow, covered both ends (not the central hole, of course) with new faces (the "Skin faces/edge-loops" option is very fast and efficient in Blender), and then rotated both ends. I think this way the mesh would be cleaner, and ready to work on details (maybe a very tiny bevel at the corners?), deformations or animation.
But your bell is really perfect as it is .
