It's based on Genesis from the Catholic bible, thus: Terra autem erat inanis The earth was void Super faciem abyssi The face of the deep I've got a friend working on the other bits Back to top

In the same thread I also mentioned that the third line is adapted from the Requiem prayer and means "Grant us eternal light", and that the fourth line is a repetition of the first with an invented ending. @ Ray: sure as heck it sounds like TSODE, especially the "Lux æterna" bit! Some of the monks' chant in Hibernaculum is in Latin and some is not. Here's a line-by-line anaysis. 1) Cantimus Domino - This is incorrect Latin. It means "Let's sing to the Lord". 2) Carlitus Domito - This is not Latin and doesn't mean anything. 3) Pleni sunt cæli - This is real Latin, taken from the "Gloria". It means "The skies are full". 4) Et mundus vesperi - This is incorrect Latin. It means "And the world in the evening". I think that any other transcription of Hibernaculum by anyone whose mother tongue is not Italian will yield very different results, but I am Italian and I can guarantee you that at least two lines of that are incorrect Latin, and one is real Latin. @ empyr: Latin, like Italian, is to be read exactly like it's written, so c = k. -------------- Ugo C. - a devoted Amarokian Back to top
