Not sure if this has ever been mentioned, but has anyone heard this before?

(It gets interesting at 3:50 if you can't manage to listen to it from the beginning ma homies)

My son recognised it and told me. Good to hear he knew it ;) I am influencing him a little then!

I can't find out if this is a new track or if it's old...I remember the Rose Royce original, and there have been covers, one of Jay Z's dating to 1998 - but this sounds kind of recent...??

I really can't believe I'm actually writing about rap :/ - but I think I have a good enough excuse in this case!! :)

Interesting,

I've heard Mike sampled before by rap musicians

Kanye West - Dark Fantasy (samples "In High Places")

Ice T - Gotta lotta love (Tubular Bells mix), this was released as a single B side

Would add youtube links but i'm not sure how
:/

any others people know of?

From incantations to Snoop Dog sampling Voyager :D

I heard this a lot on the radio at work at the time (2001), and it was in the charts in the UK.

It's one of the many posthumous releases - I have no information about who put what together when, but reckon it might be the Trackmasters re-mixing it who maybe heard a bit of MO...

I listened to this via my phone so may be missing something, but all I can hear is a sample from Liberian Girl which is a fairly famous Michael Jackson song. The video for Liberian Girl was directed by Steven Spielberg which is quite interesting because the video is shit.

My fault entirely!  "Everyone would prefer to watch a video." I reasoned, without actually watching it all the way through myself... :/

Even considering the extra voxpops on top of the track, it's not the best sourced quality either.  I'm also at fault for failing to point out that it isn't strictly a sample that you're looking out for; more a hint of something familiar to my ears at least.  The recurring keyboard chime follows enough of a part of Far Above The Clouds for my Spidey-senses to tingle :)

Hey that's a brillinat site! I never knew they used variation on Tubular Bells in Death note! I read the manga, but never saw the anime. And it's even a theme to my favourite character. What a surprise!
