As well as being a certified Mike Oldfield freak, I also really love the tv-series "Doctor Who" (god, how geeky sounding is that?).
A fellow Whovian friend of mine told me that Mike Oldfield was originally slated to do the soundtrack to the 1996 TV Movie of "Doctor Who", and that he recorded a demo of the Doctor Who theme. The producers listened to his version of the theme and decided to get someone else to do the soundtrack.
Is there any truth behind any of this? And if so does anyone know if Mikes version of the Doctor Who theme is obtainable anywhere on bootlegs or the internet?
Also, are there any other Whovian Oldfield fans out there?
By the way, I personally think it would be great to see Oldfield do a "Doctor Who" themed concept album, sort of like "Songs Of Distant Earth". Does anyone else think this?
