whats your favourite mike oldfield music video?
mine has to be blue peter, so typically british monty python-esque. must have been so much fun to make. in fact i suggest that mike does a video like this in the future, perhaps featuring some of his many motorbikes or rc helicopters, etc - just general arsing around.

Five Miles Out was the first one I thought of, immediately.

so many good ones to choose from but either "Shine" or "To be free" are the first ones to spring to mind for me. I'll have a deeper think and post again.....

I do agree the blue peter one with the hovercrafts looks like they were having a fab time :-)

I consider there to be three categories, so I feel obliged to vote three times:

Blue Peter - ie documentary category

Exposed concert - Music video of concert category (and my favorite because I was there!!!;)

The compliation one of all the islands and anita hergeland, wind chimes etc., and this is the Video made for the music category.  Out of that category it has to be Don Alphonso!!!!!   :D  :D

Let's face it Mike's videos have been a funny old bunch.  Most have them have dated pretty badly.

I think the one for Moonlight Shadow is fairly decent.

And I love watching Kevin Ayers and Mike goof around in the video for Flying Start, even though the graphics look terrible my modern standards.

But my favourite is In Dulci Jubilo - lots of bearded Mikes playing lots of instruments in split-screen.  That doesn't seem to have dated at all!

Ohh, Mike has really great videos.

My favourite is DEFINITELY Five Miles Out (this pilot guy just rocks ;).
Crime of passion is really great too, If only Barry would behave a bit more like a puppet, I think this one could be my favourite.

Some other cool videos that I also like, are:
Moonlight Shadow, Pics in the dark, Innocent (oh yes, this one's crazy), Heaven's Open (for the music, which is different and imho a bit better than on the album), Blue Peter.

On the other hand, To France is very dull.

cheers

They're all rather good in their own way, but I agree some have dated though I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing.

But my truest favourite is Wonderful Land. I had very neutral feelings towards this track before I saw the video. I love any black & white image/photgraph/film so the opening sequence captures my interest immediately (nice dawg too, like the way he looks at the camera crew!!;) Then Mike playing outside in a wintry setting, I love the idea of music outside, anywhere. I like the vertical reflections that remind me of Light & Shade & the Oldfield.com website. Lots of other bits too, but the best, best bit is near the end when little Molly ( I think) is sitting on her Dad's knee whilst he  plays guitar. Must have been quite tricky for him. It's very touching, looks like happy times and ofcourse they are both completely gorgeous!!

I also like Heaven's Open because the animation is interesting, I like the way it all flows into itself and on to the next image. I guess it is a lot to do with the Virgin record company?

Blue Peter is very good fun, Don Alphonso too. I still kind of like Portsmouth & In Dulci Jubilo because they take me right back to my childhood and awakning interest in Oldfield music.

Very much looking forward to a new one from a new album...sometime :D
