Hi chaps,

As you know I have three of Mike's Guitars.  They are not getting played as much as I would have liked as I am living in a different place to where they are kept.

If there are any fans who are particularly interested i may let them move on.

1961 Martin - from the front cover of Guitars Album
1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior TV - certified by Mike as used on Ommadawn
1974 Acoustic Bass, made for Mike by Tony Zemantis and having Mike initials on the head stock

Players only......No glass cases on walls!!

Ray

all three for £300.00 Ray OK?  LOL

Well actually the LPJ is of no use to me and I'd end up not playing it as well, same as the bass.  But the Martin would be something I WOULD play.  Are you auctioning?

No auction.    :D

Just if there is someone out there who has the capacity to look after them and more time than i have to play them.

And can afford them!

:D

If i sell my children and my granny and  rob a couple of banks i may be able to raise the capital!God i would love them (especially the Junior)but alas a lack of funds prevents me.My only hope is the eventual buyer actually uses them and has a knowledge of what they are and what they have been used on.The bass looks massive in all the pictures i have and on the vids.Probably too big for me to be honest.

What are you waiting for then, go get your gun out!!    :D

you could sell a kidney too, you don't need 2 - waste of space..  :p

Regarding selling children - if it were up to me - I would give them away for free - no strings (or guitars) attached

Sorry..my medicine stopped working again

Sorry to hear that you are not getting the time to play them that you had hoped.

If I win the premium bonds in a big way in the near future I'll give you a call about that Zemantis :-)

Not if i get there first you won't!I'd even learn to play bass for that!
On a serious note i would be devasted to have to let them go.To be honest if there was any of the Oldfield guitars that i would love to own above all others it would be the SG that currently resides with Yanouch. Now that baby would be the ultimate catch as i just love the tone Mike got from it and i have always had a soft spot for SGs.But i would be very happy with the Junior that Ray has.

I seriously considered buying the lot. But.....I just don't feel like a history buff in that way. I like new stuff. But, truth is, I considered it.

The thing that would sway it for me is "do i like the guitar" rather than "OMG it's the guitar used on.....".I like LP Junior type guitars. The fact that it was Mike Oldfield's would be a bonus.I wouldn't get so excited about one of the PRS's or the Strats.I love strats but i already have one (albeit a much newer one)and i simply don't like PRS's that much.As i've said before i'd damn well play the things rather than put it in a glass case.Sure i'd be much more careful than i am with my guitars and i'm not sure i'd dare take it out to play, but Mike bought both of them second hand anyway and when you strip away all the bullshit surounding the whole 'vintage' market they are second hand guitars. They do happen to be very very nice examples of the species and they were made much more by hand then. The other thing that always makes me laugh about the Juniors (the SG and the LP)is that they were aimed at the 'student' end of the market. That's to say the beginner end.Now the prices are so high that beginners can't get a look in.Funny old world innit!

Looking back....I just can't help but say once more......$3000 is worth it. The Parker Fly. It felt like putty in my hands. NASA high tech. Buy one if you ever scrape the dollars. This thing was incredible and worth every penny.

Ray, I can not believe that! I know that you drove to swizerland only to see yanouch´s guitar, invested a lot of money for these instruments... and now you want to sell it????
Hope everything is Ok with you.
