Looking through the annual Record Store Day release listing for here in the UK, I spotted this. I might have to queue up at the local record shop afer all!
Mike Oldfield - Nuclear - UMC After his performance at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Mike Oldfield surprised and delighted fans when he returned after a six-year absence from recording with Man On The Rocks, an album of highly melodic rock songs made with the cream of LA session musicians and up-and-coming vocalist Luke Spiller (from the Struts). It was released to huge acclaim in March 2014. Six months later, the powerfully poignant track ‘Nuclear’ – a song about Oldfield’s grandfather’s experiences in the First World War – was selected by director Hideo Kojima for inclusion in the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 trailer for computer game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The track became an enormous word-of-mouth hit across world streaming services. For RSD 2016, it is being released on a strictly limited picture disc 7” single. Konami Entertainment have granted an image from the game on the A-side, while the flip features an exclusive still of Mike and Luke taken during the filming of the ‘Sailing’ video in the Bahamas in January 2014
