Been a while. Thought I'd post something recent. I recently joined a group and got access to Reason 4.0. I made a couple tracks with it that may have commercial opportunities. Landscape isn't finished yet. Deeper Meaning borrows some inspiration from Mike Oldfield and Jean Michel Jarre. No guitar this time.

Excellent. Both of them. :)

By any chance, did you create any images to go with them? (Covers? pics? videos?)

Thank you. And no. Not yet, anyway. I don't really have the equipment or software to make videos. Images maybe...

I really like 'Deep'.

'Landscape' does sound like it needs something more - but as you say it's not finished yet then that's to be expected.

Cheers,
Terry.

Thanks, guys. I've renamed Deep to Deeper Meaning. It's a more modern sort of styled song and since I still choose to focus on the emotion and direction of the music rather than just making "ear-candy" it seems appropriate. The "deeper meaning" of music, so-to-speak.

Glad to see the inspiration hasn't gone.
Nice stuff, Brandon.

Hmm.. nice work Brandon.

Lead melody could easily be moved to guitar "with fiddly bits", but works well as it is.

As for commercial success, did you mean game sound tracks or other uses? With some more strings/lushness could work for documentary TV.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

No, I'm in a hip hop band right now and I'm trying to veer them away from traditional hip hop to do something a little more inspiring and experimental.

My webhost seems to have given up so the files aren't available anymore. I'll try to upload them somewhere else again in the future. Here's another new track, though.

@ Brandon, re. "Long Road": very, very nice, although somehow I miss the presence of a lead instrument doing some sort of solo melody. The whole thing sounds to me like it's playing as background music to something - it almost feels like one of those John M. Keane cues heard during lab investigation scenes in CSI (a weird episode of which I've finished watching not more than an hour ago). Overall, I like your previous two efforts slightly more than this latest one.

Like I said before, I joined a hip hop band. These tracks are meant to be actual songs with lyrics. Hence no lead instruments and a very simple layout.

@ Brandon: sorry if I insist, but when I said that "Long Road" sounded like background music, I didn't mean that I thought that something was supposed to go on top of it - I meant that it sounded like a soundtrack to some film scene, with dialogue, sound FX, etc., happening together with it, not on top of it. To put it very frankly, I just can't believe that this and the other two pieces were originally created as backing tracks to hip hop songs, because my mind just can't get to imagine how such complex and multi-layered tracks would sound if lots and lots and lots of words were sung (ahem... rapped) on top of them. However, evidently I was careless in reading your previous post about you joining a hip hop band. It's only that I just can't imagine those kinds of tracks being the backing not to a solo instrument and not even to a singing voice, but essentially to rappers' voices reciting sets of lyrics that are obviously supposed to be quite long. But who am I to know? :D

By the way: what if you had joined a band who did Bob Dylan-styled or Arlo Guthrie-styled talking blues songs? :)
