Hi there,my fellow partner in crime  ,Groovy Granny and myself have come up with this idea of a festive ode to The Maestro. I've come up these lyrics, to fit the tune of In Dulci Jubilo  :) ,

Christmas time on Hergest Ridge,
The air is chilly like your fridge,
Dancing there would be cool.
A great way to spend your Yule,   :).

Well I don't think Mike will be calling me to write lyrics for him. This is my second attempt at lyric writing ever.

Anyone care to add the next verse?

--------------
I'm going slightly mad,
It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad

If you feel a little glum to Hergest Ridge you should come.

I had a go at In Dulci Jubilo but found myself struggling to come up with anything. However, when I switched to 'Ding dong merrily on high', this popped out unbidden:

Ding dong merrily on high
The Tubular Bells are ringing
Ding dong verily, oh my,
That's Maggie Reilly singing.

Oh-oh-oh-oh ..(etc.) .... oh-ma dawn eggyowl
On Hergest Ridge it's snowing.
Oh-oh-oh-oh ..(etc.) .... oh-ma dawn eggyowl
The moonlight shadow's growing.

Great ones!

Time to break out the eggkyowlnog.

And another verse for "In Dulci Jubilo":

"Christmas time in old L.A.
Where TB2 was made, they say
Dancing there is just the best
If you won't move, the quakes assist"

--------------
"In the land of the Dacotahs,
Where the Falls of Minnehaha
Flash and gleam among the oak-trees,
Laugh and leap into the valley."
- Song of Hiawatha

OK....here goes.... (thinking of the tradition some of us have of lighting a bonfire throughout the solstice night to entice the sun to come back to us):

Yuletide fire burning bright
Urging the sun's return throughout the night
While we dance around in snow
Trying not to stub a toe
(or..) Wishing to Hergest Ridge we could go

:D

Hehe! Not this pagan person (not even under the July in the north sun)...but, go for it...the polar bear yuletide dancing club -- not as bad as diving into Onondaga Lake or here, in the Mississippi, like some do in January. :D

Dancing skyclad in the snow
Is not a place I wanna go
Rather wrapped in PETA-approved fake fur
Than nothing at all, saying "Burrrrrr"

(Hmmm...accidentally posted before I had finished and manged to duplicate to boot...am not even imbibing in some warming meade--hmmm....the brandy in the kourabeides??)

Great Stuff :D .

Here's another one I came up with, to the tune of Hark, The Herald Angels Sing.

Hark, The Tubular Bells do ring,
Hear The Bootleg Chorus sing,
Piltdown Man in Yuletide mood,
The Penrhos Kids and Maggie too,
Joyfully we all do fly,
To Hergest Ridge 'pon high,
Dancing there in the snow,
On Horseback we do go,
Hark, The Tubular Bells do ring,
Hear The Bootleg Chorus sing.
 :)  :D

Mike Oldfield standing on the shore
His trousers wet, his feet so sore
But he had to do it for the cover
Incantations makes him suffer

Better standing on Ibizian beach
Where it's warm beneath the tropic trees
Bells 3, you made him warm
Now he plays the bells in perfect calm

:D  My poetry so far!!!
Thank you, thank you very much  ;)

To the tune of Slade's Merry xmas song.

There's a big event on Hergest Ridge today,
Mike Oldfield will be travelling there by sleigh,
But who'll do all the pulling, cos Rudolphs occupied,
Come out Sir B you've got no place to hide. :O
