Hello

I went to London last Saturday and as I was near Abbey Road, I decided to go to the famous studio. As you can see in the picture (see the links), a lot of fans from around the world write something about the artist they like and, of course, the Beatles are the winner.

If you hake a look at the pillar which is on the right of the studio, a fan of Mike has written something about him.

This makes me wonder; has Mike ever recorded in Abbey Road? To my knowledege he has only used the Manor, his home studio and (on one occasion) Electric Ladyland in NY. But I could be wrong.

Yes, he has. He´s been there before with Kevin Ayers And The Whole World and came back in 2007 just to record Music Of The Spheres with the Orchestra Sinfonia Sfera.

It is why I was in this place!

Now, Mike has his name there for ever, at least until they are going to paint it again  :/

As I can, I am going to Montreux to write his name on the famous door of Freddy Mercury's studio which is in the same building as the concert hall where Mike played in 1981.

Spread the word Yannick!Incedentally it was while recording at Abbey Road with Ayres that he got the idea to do everything himself.Champaign Cowboy Blues from Whatevershebringswesing was (if Changling is to be belived)all done by Mike with the exception of the violin and,of course, the vocals while waiting for the rest of the band to drag their collective hung over arses to the studio.

Here`s a pretty rare shot of Mike bound for Abbey Road some time during the late 70`s.

Mike At Abbey Road

But that BMW  3 Series is a recent design :O .

Oh yes I had some time to kill in London a few years ago, so I went to Abbey Road, someone had drawn a really good yellow submarine, and also a Pink Floyd prism as on DSOTM and written the band members names with the legend "Shine on You Crazy Diamonds" . This was followed by a trip to Sticky Fingers in Kensington to engage my enthusiasm for the Rolling Stones. I've done some of the Queen locations in London , Kensington Market, Imperial College etc.  I think '05 was my year of the Oldfield trail.

Yanoch when you're in Montreux could you pass my respects on to Queen and Mike, as i doubt I'll be getting there for some time.

As promised, I was in Montreux yesterday. I wrote the same thing as I did on the wall in Abbey Road.
This is the entrance of Freddy Mercury Studio. It is in the same building as where Mike played in 1981 (Live at Montreux DVD). The name of this building is Casinon Barrière.

Have a look at the top right in this picture
