This is just for fun. :)

All of the following are acronyms for album titles, shows (theatre or TV), books, films and other things that I found around the WWW. Can you identify them all?

Rules:
1) Answers given in more than one post by the same person are valid.
2) Answers giving alternate meanings for an acronym (i.e. not what I have in mind) are valid, if the meaning you give complies with what I say the acronym is used for. ;)
3) Googling is allowed; usage of the Acronym Finder, absolutely not. :D

Here I go:

RHPS, or TRHPS - movie
JATATD, or J&TATD - show
JCS - show and movie
DADOES or DADoES - book
TAO - album and website. Two different meanings, one is enough.
DSOTR - movie
PSB - band name
SYL - album
TGE - book, movie and album
MM or MMTM - two acronyms referred to the same show. One meaning is enough.
GDM or, later, GTM - show and (later) album
AYNIL - song (60s)
SPR - movie (by Steven Spielberg)
3sC - TV show
WAT - TV show
6FU - TV show
DITL - album
BS - album. Not 'bullshit'. :D
BN or BsN - band name
AFOS - 80s band name
BR - movie
LIB - album
TOAFC - album
BOMPST - album (by Prince)
SPLHCB - album
ADIDAS - song (by Korn)
DTKIC, or DTNIC - song (80s and 2000s, same song)
HAF, or H&F - album (2000s)
CFG - album and DVD
SFRJ - album and DVD
ITTOD - album
APLP - band name
F&F or TF&TF - movie
BOOH2, also known as BIH - album
MATW - album (by Elton John)
TCSR - album (by Simon and Garfunkel)
DD or D'sD - song (by Depeche Mode)
V4S - classical album from the early 90s

...and finally an easy one: HTDAAB - album.

Good luck! :)

I never realised you were a Sir Andrew Lloyd webber fan Ugo..not quite sure if that is good, bad or sad.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

I don't know if I can call myself a fan of his... I just like his music a lot. And I never had any idea about this being bad, or sad. :D
And, BTW, since only two items in the list are ALW's, here's another one to add to it: POTO. Considering what you and I wrote, Andy, that should be very easy. :D So, I guess you know some of the answers, don't you? :)

Has anyone else heard Andrew Lloyd Weber's "Variations"? It is downright Oldfieldian in parts.

3sC --> Three sides of a circle

SYL --> Strapping Young Lad
MMTM --> More Machine Than Man
[...]
DITL --> Day In The Life
[...]
TCSR --> The Complete Stone Roses

Skibby: very very very good :), but I need some clarifications.

1) Is Three sides a TV show? I never heard of it. The proper acronym for what I meant, though, would be 3'sC.
2) Is Strapping Young Lad an album? Ditto as above. ;)

If the answer to the above two is 'yes', they're valid. :)

3) I said that DITL was an album. "Day In The Life", AFAIK, is not.
4) I also said that TCSR was by Simon & Garfunkel. :)

...and don't forget POTO. :)

I'll take a stab at it and guess that 3'sC stands for Three's Company.

TCSR - The Columbia Studio Recordings.

3 clicks and the answer is there. Google takes all the fun out of these things :/

BTW, I have an original cast recording of JATATDC somewhere in the attic from the late 70's, bought after a school trip to London.

SPR - Mr Hanks turns into Jimmy Stewart as Saving Private Ryan

V4S - Vivaldi's four Seasons

PSB - oh come on, your fave band? That's too easy Ugo...

I'll leave it for now

andy :D

@ c_haese: Very good. :)
@ Andy: very good as well. :) PSB is one of my fav bands. :D Would you also try SYL, MM (both not guessed by Skibby), B'sN, WAT, DTKIC, H&F, the two DVDs (CFG and SFRJ) and D'sD? I'd be very glad if you tried. ;)

P.S. @ Andy: does the guy who sings "Any dreams will do" on your copy of J&TATD sing it better or worse than Jason Donovan? :D

And more..

DTKIC?  cue Bono "..And tonight thank God it's them instead of yooooou"

DD - Depeche Modes Death's Door , but I got stuck thinking of Princess Di's new Dress

SYL - Skibby's answer is really an album, it's the top of google's suggestions, bless her. Don't think Sonic Youth did a self-titled live album. So...i give up for now.

BN - following your rules I can have the Blue Nile as a band name.

AYNIL - All you need is Love (repeat as required)

BOMPST - nearly got me there, until i added "Original Motion Picture Sound Track". Nicholson rules in that movie.

PSB - Actually Dkay's fave band.

Back later.. ;)

@ Andy: very good again. :) OK for SYL - the one Skibby had was more properly a band name in my mind, but however I can give it valid both to you and him (although the album I had in mind was by Vangelis, and maybe SYL is not the proper acronym for it...). About Blue Nile, AFAIK they're not a real band, apart from being Annie Lennox's backing band - did they make any albums on their own? If they did, it's valid. :) As I said in the previous post, the proper acronym for the one I meant would be B's N.

BTW, what's all this stuff about Google being female? I never really had any serious thought about such a thing.  :D

I don't want this thread to turn into our own personal discussion, but I'll just add the one for Vangelis.

It had "memories of Green" a long long time before it became part of the BladeRunner soundtack. And, yes it is up in the attic along with Joseph and his Dream Coat.

Erm... well... yes, I know. I have it too (on CD). :)

As far as I know, the only Vangelis I own is "666 Aphrodite's Child"...an LP.

Hey, Ugo, brother, I can't tell you much about these TV series or programs since I'm not living in the USA. I'm playing away this game, so I've nothing to do but trust my lovely Googie advices ...although I'm begining to suspect about her fidelity: I've just taken note of Kimball's remark which makes me doubt about her sexual identity indeed! (I mean, ADIDAS but I've always moderated myself not trying to go too far with her). Quite later OracUK boasts about having 'invoked' her and flirting and clicking her buttons...
Is she cheating on me? :/

Vangelis? Umh... Has he got something to do with my fav scene in the very whole universal worldwide world?
«I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.»
It's a pity, but I can't remember now the film... :p

Luckily for me, I see that all of you are still gettin' the fun side of this.  :p
Let's see what's still missing... oh yeah, WAT. A very recent TV show on the style of CSI; B's N, which I thought it was easy as a band name, yet no-one's guessed it yet :); TGE (great movie, and great album as well IMHO, though absolutely unrelated to the same-titled movie); GDM (Hiawatha, where are you? :D); the two DVD+CD packages (CFG and SFRJ, both featuring the same artist and both recent); and MM (another one I thought easy...). Anyone got a take on any of these? :)

P.S. @ Skibby: that's one of my all-time fav movie quotes as well. :)

WAT - Wierd and Terrible! ok, made that one up

TGE - The Great Escape, yeh I got one!

MM - Marilyn Monroe or Marilyn Manson

I don't understand this game.
