You know over the years Mike has changed his styles - you never really know what your gonna get from one album to the other.. It always leaves it very interesting.

Can't help but think how much i prefer his mamoth epic albums though.. The one's where there's no cuts from one tune to the next but they just seemingly merge tiny little melodies into one huge track.. like in Tubular Bells, Amarok, etc..

The albums he's released over the last 10 years always follow the same format 1 song followed by another of a different melody. Not that i'm complaing about that, i like his work fullstop but i do miss the albums that just seemingly develop and grow throughout.

For me Mike has always been about slow progression in a song and thats what really got me hooked onto his work. The way he played around in 30 mins with a melody for it later to return in the track slightly changed and the whole album seemed to progress usually ending in a big finish.

I agree with you although i do like the albums with single songs on too.  I long for Mike to do something like that again.  What i would really like is for Mike to put down his computer and get back to basics, just one more time and i'll be happy.

Not that i'm ungrateful or moaning or anything...

I can't believe that you wouldn't want to hear Mike do something like the early albums again.
