Hello to all,
Sorry for not posting much lately....maybe I havnt got anything interesting to talk about ...heh..i like to read other peoples comments regularly though.

Anyhows..heres a song (with some vocals) for your listening pleasure (or punishment, take your pick). It's a couple of years old now and recording quality is not the greatest..vocals are pretty much a first take and I felt they were good enough to leave in at the time...we shall re-record everything at some point though.

The tune is called "Always More" and is a sort of a mix of The Corrs,Mike Oldfield and maybe a tad of Marillion........I hope you enjoy anyhow.Feel free to comment too.....I did all the music and melodies but not singing/ lyrics...no instruments were hurt in the making of this song.

Just as a (maybe trivial and not particularly interesting)side note while im posting here, I was passing the bookshop in Kington earlier and was pleased to see Mike Oldfield's biography taking pride of place in the shop window.....nice to see he still has some cool factor round here  ;) ...I shall be purchasing it very soon.

Peace and other hippy things
Bleat.

Now that you mentioned The Corrs, I think the song might work well with some violin and tin whistle. (And why not Andrea Corr singing, although the vocals are good in my opinion.)

It's a cute song.

Hi Markus,
Thanks for listening....there is nothing more I would like than to spend some time alone with Andrea Corr...(recording that is)...My mate Rach is more than adequate though.

It really wasnt a concious decision to do a song like that,it sorta fell out that way,a simple pop song really, and yes there will be the usual tin whistle and violin making an apperance in the new improved version...I already have ideas whirling about in head .....maybe even an accordian, bodhran, banjo ,bones, low whistle, irish pipes,bagpipes,2 double whiskys,a pint of Guiness, elves on backing vocals........ok maybe im gettin carried away now  :p

Stay cool,
Bleat.

Yeah , it's a nice song . But i think , and this is my own opinion and surely not really a good one because i'm not a pro. , there's too much reverb ( or something like that ) on the vocals ; it would be better with the lead vocals more ( how to say that in English ) " in front of the instruments "

In any case it's really peaceful !

Andrea is a perfect singer , Caroline a perfect drummer but i'm definitively fallen in love with Sharon .... oh, Jim is a perfect guitar player ... that's all :-)

Hey Tubular,
Thanks for taking the time to listen.....It's an opinion that is as valid as anyone elses and I would much prefer a "listners" opinion than a "pro" anyday......i dont write to please other pros i write to please the listener (and myself ) ;)

That was one of the first recordings i did with vocals,I have learnt a fair bit regarding mixing/ recording  vocals since that was done,( though very far from being perfect )......drowning them in reverb is a common mistake people make I guess (as did I at that point).....slower songs do tend to allow for extra reverb on the voice from what I have learned...but
your observation is correct though and maybe a tad too much in that instance......the next version i am hoping will be a big improvement in all areas.

Cheers,
Bleat.
