Hi all. You may remember my last post about writing my dissertation on Mike Oldfield. I am still very keen to do this, but would like to play more close attention to Amarok, and to attempt the daunting challenge of writing an in depth analysis of the piece. I just wonder if anyone has any info on the piece, analytically as i saw there was an amarok analysis on the web but it keeps saying on the page that it was stolen??!!

So any help anyone out there can give would be good. I am listening to the piece a lot these days and trying to map out a contour of the structure before i go an further.

Cheers!

The analysis is still on this very site (tubular.net). Just go here:

Thanks for the link! I was thinkign of something more in depth. This analysis is actually really good as a blueprint. Somehow i need to find out if any notation exists of the piece or any jottings that would help me probe deeper into its construction. Maybe mike has stuff relating to the piece?

If only I could contact him on this project.....

There was also another analysis with some more details. At the moment it's not online (some technical problems) but the author might put it back later.

Amarok (and Wind Chimes) analysis

The analysis posted above was nice, with every section commented, and lots of sections properly scored. But I found the texts extremelly silly and over-the-top; if I wasn't aware, I'd say it was a parody. It wouldn't be at all bad to see a more balanced, unbiased analysis.

And Markus K's avatar is pure brilliance. :)
