Andreas Vollenweider is another of my favourite instrumentalists. If anyone else of you knows him, I'd like to know what do you think about him.

Well, I bought one of his first records (IIRC Caverna Magica) in the early eighties and liked it quite much, but I somehow lost the track and never bothered to get another one. Maybe for me his harp sound worked well for one album, but the next was too similar to be worth buying...

BTW: Just found that he got a nice homepage, with several pieces of his music to listen online : http://www.vollenweider.net/

Heard an album of his once and thought it was utter crap, a million miles away from Mike's stuff. But then again maybe just a one off bad album, isn't he extremely new-age?

Toby: What album did u hear? He actually had a crappy 'poppish' one, Eolian Ministrel.
Anyway, I don't think he is 'extremely' New Age because in a genre like New Age no one can be 'extreme', but yes, he is formally labelled as a New Age artist. :)

Thats true Ugo 'extreme' is not a word you often associate with new age music, come to think of it thats one of the reasons I don't like it.

I don't know which album it was Ugo, can't remember, I'm sure they're not all bad though.

I have three albums of Andreas Vollenweider, but I just listen to them when I`m drunk.

I've seen one of his gigs in the early eighties, here in Rotterdam and bought a few of his albums during that time.
His first 4 ones to be precise.
I recall liking it very much back then. Lateron he started to repeat himself and I lost track of him and his music.
I haven't played his records in 15 years.....

(Same goes for Rick Wakeman, sorry)

AW does good stuff: it's a very romantic music.
most of women appreciate this music when you have an intimate dinner with.

Who never listened "dancing with the lion?"

If you like this more accessible stuff, well you should get some Yanni, Checkfield or David Arkenstone: your girlfriend will be happy, if she's not too young!
