Anita Hegerland was on NRK1, the Norwegian state channel today. She was interviewed about her 43 year long career and her latest album (which I really like since I'm a sucker for heavy metal inspired music) and we got to see parts of a miming performance of Pictures in the Dark from a German tv show (it's on youtube).
She performed two tracks from the album, which was co-written and produced by the guitarist Ronni Le Tekro, probably most famous for playing with TNT, and one of the songs was actually written by Noah Oldfield.
Noah was also interviewed, and he was asked if he was asked a lot of questions about his surname, which he confirmed. Apart fomr Anita saying "Mike" once during the interview, that was as far as we got any mention of his father, which I feel was a shame. Noah also plays the guitar and he writes songs in his spare time. He also told that he was proud of his mother's career, which he should be about his father's career as well. "Music is probably in my genes" he said.
They did introduce Anita as the most selling Norwegian female artist of all time, and I actually think they are right about that. She sold millions of records in Germany as a child star. However, her 80s albums didn't do much business in Norway, if the official chart history from VG-lista is to believed. Only her 1983 album "All the way" charted in the top 20.
The new album hasn't done much business either, at least not in Norway. But in Finland she's been the most downloaded artist for several weeks. Maybe not too surprising, as her album sounds a bit like Nightwish, without the operatic vocals.
NRK has put the entire show online, but you can't view it outside of Norway -> http://www.nrk.no/nett-tv/indeks/293904/
