Pictures and You Tube Clips seem to be mixing in well with the text these days on Tubular.net, so I wondered if anyone would like to share images of any buildings they find interesting?
...Or not!! It's not compulsory:)

You don't have to have seen them, or been in them, just something that appeals to you. They can be any size and for any purpose. Trying to think of how we can relate this to Mike's music...but I can't think of anything!

Here's two from me...

I love Gaudi, have never been to Barcelona, but would love to, and so I am fascinated by this cathedral, The Sagrada Familia, it's still being built, and seems a real muddle, but I love it.

The French seem to have effortless style in their architecture, and that was the most memorable thing about a trip to Paris I had once. Just the way they'll try anything, just see what happens kind of thing. Probably more common than i realised, but growing plants on walls really caught my eye.

The one below is obviously not a real building but, like most of its creator's work, has always fascinated me.

I think it's most impressive when three dimensional mockups of Escher are produced - like that sculpture in Perth of the impossible triangle that I posted some time ago.

@Ugo   Escher's ideas are fascinating, and still have something a little bit mystical about them.

@Nightspore  I remember the uploaded picture, and would imagine it is well worth viewing for real

The image of his (and off-thread for a sec ~ this is not buildings) is the picture of the hands drawing themselves, that always stops me in my tracks

escher

This, in London, I like, I just like the curves I think amongst all the vertical and horizontal lines of the city skyline

the gherkin

and this is getting older now, but still is quite futuristic somehow

the lloyds building

I suppose there is a link with Mike's music and the architecture, in that they are both creations of sound structure?   :)

"Taktshang, also called the Tiger’s Nest monastery is in the middle of the Bhutanese mountains, several hours outside of Paro (the only city with an airport)."

No, I haven't been there. It's just my laptop background image, has been for quite some time now.

I looooove bauhaus, and not only as architecture but also with paintings and stuff. I have a very large book of bauhaus. I admire Kandinsky's paintings.

Penrose => M.C. Escher => Christopher Nolan.

lovely clean lines, perfect proportions...I know what you mean HR lover...and very pleased to see Kandinsky mentioned!...I too like his work very much.  Music is a theme in his abstract work, and I think it inspired him too, so a bit of a link with Mike there maybe?

@ Olivier: well, as far as I know no-one else turned mathematics into art except for him. That's why he fascinates me. And however Penrose & C. only drew abstractions. Escher's pictures are alive because he populated his impossible buildings with people. Escher himself stated this as one of the key points of his art.

@ Sir M.: the transmission line is far longer and articulated than that. Mr. Nolan is only the latest one in a long list of Escher imitators and Escher-influenced artists. Have you ever heard of István Orosz [also see here] or of Rob Gonsalves? :)
