Here in Hungary there is (at least) one fan club, the HMOFC (MMORK in Hungarian). :) I know that there is Taurus IV in Germany and Four Winds in Poland so I'm curious how common such a club is around the world.

[Note: Sorry, I've just realized that perhaps I should have made this poll in the Polls and opinions area. :/]

There is NO Mike Oldfield Club(official & unofficial) in Romania and I don't think it will ever be,to be honest...

Hm, it seems that there aren't many Oldfield fan clubs but there's demand for them among the fans here. So I should account myself lucky to be a member of such a club. In this regard Hungary is an ideal place with an absolutely central capital city that is nine times bigger than the second biggest city, and the country is small enough that anyone can go up to Budapest quite quickly...

Hehe, seems so far I'm the only one who wouldn't join one. The internet community is quite enough to satisfy my needs. I'd meet with people I know from here any time, but I can't really see myself joining a fan club, or any club for that matter.

Although there are many many fans here in the Uk, there are not many occasions when we actually meet face to face.

Maybe it's because the majority are in their more mature years, and now have alot of other commitments, or the logistics of british motorways and trains are so hard.

The internet has made many close friendships, here at Tub.net and other places, so maybe a real time meet isn't as necessary as it used to be?

personally I'd love to arrange something, perhaps for Mike's birthday? But then where do we meet? For how long? Do we arrange special events? The musicians would want amps and facilities, the MVR people a router and laptops, the beer drinkers a free bar.

Geez, olrack, you're scaring my oldest child, who was reading over my shoulder and is already terrified of riding around the UK with me in May (but not in time for MO's b-d), hahahaha! Of course here in the US, the fans are pretty spread out, often by thousands of miles, though you never know where one might be lurking. Anyone is always welcome to pop into my house if in the neighborhood. :) BTW.....the local public broadcasting program that was playing Mike wasn't canceled after all, and last night played "The Hero!!!"....Now Im convinced that the new station manager is an Oldfield fan. AFAIK, he makes the selections for that one. My NPR membership is due to be renewed, and I am going to do so with special thanks for playing Oldfield. Glad I waited. :)  :)

Ink, please tell her not to worry, it's not that we all drive at 90mph, just the British laziness and the fact that we think 100 miles is a very long way to travel when the towns are so close together. (or maybe it's the bit where you say "with me" that terrifies her?)

Anyway, if you can persuade the kids that after Alton Towers and Stonehenge their mum can have a day to herself, that would be an awesome opportunity to get some of us together.

A good central town where we can find a cheap hotel who wouldn't mind us taking over their music system for the night.

I'd like to meet up with other fans, but would need to arrange care
for a disabled husband first.  I think I've set up an unofficial MO fan club with a friend  :) .  Wer'e the only members :) .

Oh...it's definitely, unequivocably the "with me" part. :) Thing is, I'll be very careful and I'll have three backseat drivers reminding me to stay left (hopefully not too far left). ;)

Do you mean a day to myself in which they get to do what I want to do without complaining? Could be arranged. I've already convinced my oldest that she would like Hergest Ridge because it's so spiritual ("....and Kayleigh...you're tuned into this sort of thing....see if you, too, think the boulder is where paganfolk congregate...."). Having her convinced is 2/3 of the battle. Mwwwhhhaaaaa. I just need the right approach.

Sounds like a plan (no pun intended). I should try to nail down our intinerary by March 4th is all, and hopefully everything will work out with what you might be planning!!  So far, I know we'll be three nights in London--someplace, then am renting the car and heading out--someplace. :)

I contribute quite regularily to the Mike Oldfield Italian Fan Club website (www.mikeoldfield.it), but I don't think I can call myself a member. :)
