Hi, not been around here for some time so how you all doing ? ;-)

New track "Armistice". I used my late granddad's accordion so for me it's quite emotional.

Cool. Sounds Hergest Ridge-y. Mellow. I assume the accordian was the distant bagpipe-ish sound I was hearing? Good!

Crying to heaven
And will our voices be heard
Or will they break Like the wind

Yes, that's the accordion. If I could get bagpipes I would put them in too.

Cheers.

Ian,

Armistice is in line with the tracks on your album. It could fit right in there. Same high quality, same attention to detail, and same great production.

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Terry.

Marvelous!

The violin is worth waiting for, and the whole piece is VERY New Year appropriate - I get optimistic new beginnings.

Thank you.

It was going to be some kind of trendy Lemon Jelly type thing for library music and then in turned into a folky type of traditional hybrid.

It's strange how things turn out as in the middle of putting it together I had to go to a village hall to do some photographs for some friend. It is called the "victory Hall", many of which were built in England after the first world war. This is what got me thinking as I have never really thought about memorial halls in that light before. The tune was going round my head all the time I was in there and it seemed to fit perfectly. I started to think of the end of the first world war and all the celebrations that it was over but for me, and I hope for others, there is a sadness in the music too not forgetting the many people who lost their lives hence the title "Armistice". Life is strange how it sometimes dovetails things together like that.

Good grief, I got a bit carried away there.

The reverb on this piece sounds like it's actually in a hall - I was thinking a music hall. I get loss, sadness, melancholia, nostalgia, and then the kind of uplifting surge which inspires and moves you on.

Forgot to add that I've been working through the whole series of Who Do You Think You Are - about celebrities tracing their family histories. The soundtrack has a similar evocative nostalgic (music hall) feel running through each programmes - which I think is perfect, - infact I watch as much for the music.

Very effective, Ian.  I think it needs a guitar solo from me, though! :D

I suppose a lot of the sadness comes from life's experience coupled with the good too. There have been some very tough times in my earlier years but if it helps make music so be it ;-)

I haven't ruled out a guitar solo or even a bit of electronics but as it stands it's quite traditional.

I thank you all for your kind comments which are very encouraging. :)
