Knowing how some of you like computers and visual/music combinations such as MusicVR, I wondered if any of you have come across audiosurf before? Seems to be still in development but I've just been trying out the beta and it is a lot of fun!. I might even be tempted to buy when it gets completed and a final version released.

Simply put, it is a game where you drive along a track collecting coloured blocks. The interesting bit is that the shape of the track and other 3d graphic effects are determined by the program analysing a music file (like an mp3 for instance) that you can provide. The game then proceeds with the music playing and the track curving etc. in time. Mind you, it did struggle at times with the bit of Amarok I tried it with (a section of Amarok, audiosurf seems to be limited at the moment to 25mins maximum song size...). Sort of stutterred like a mis-firing car :D

Note the full version if this and final version etc. cost money but you can hopefully have a bit of fun with the free trial if you are interested. Sample videos can be found on youtube such as this one.

Cheers

Matt

Well, I like the retro look of that video, I just don't get the impression that the distribution of the blocks has got an awful lot to do with the music that's being played...
