http://www.bbc.co.uk/musictv/guitars/
For the last couple of weeks there has been a programme on UK television, by Alan Yentob tracing the history of the Guitar. To those of you who are guitarists it probably tells you things you already know, but I stilll think you might be interested. How it all started, who was involved, the beginnings of electric guitar... interviews with people like Les Paul, BB King, Matt Bellamy ( which was why I perked up my ears!! Dave Gilmour, Mark Knopfler and loads of others. It's best if you have a look yourself..but hope someone, somewhere likes it as much as I do!! And are they going to mention Mike?...have to wait and see..they jolly well should!!!!
What really impressed me was what Les Paul said about the guitar, about how it's all about the relationship between the player and the instrument, the searching for the sound, the emotion that is formed...somehow...and I don't play guitar..so I don't know how or why I feel this...but I really understood what he meant...particularly when thinking about Mike.
Highly recommended.
Sorry if this is in the wrong spot..I am still trying to find the last part of the article I sent ( on Kevin Ayers ) that's posted in the media section...it's in my house somewhere..but I have no idea where..it'll turn up...things always do, and I'll post it to complete the story!!!
