I'm going to see Faithless at Manchester Evening News Arena on Saturday 4 December  ...

Faithless - "Insomnia" (Monster Mix) is one of the best dance anthems. This version has got a particularly cool intro.

"Insomnia" (Moody Mix) - is interesting.

Pet Shop Boys - Go West. And of course there are the originals of that, i.e. the Village People. In the Navy is their best one, IMHO.

@ Olivier & Wiga: if you're looking for anthemic DM songs, I don't think anything beats this one (of course in its original studio version), which has always been a big fav of mine.

@ Sir M.: "Analogue Bubblebath" isn't Aphex Twin - it's AFX. :) OK, it's always Richard D. James, but apparently his various aliases count quite a lot from a musical point of view. Anyway, that tune is cool.

Ugo, I'm getting "This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds." for your links.

Yep, it's true; I just wasn't up to making that separation. I don't even know if James takes those monikers seriously anyway...

If you're going to be pedantic Ugo then since when is Go West by the Pet Shop boys dance music?    ;)

@ TOBY: well, the original "Go West" was a dance tune, wasn't it? So why shouldn't a cover of it be a dance tune? :) After all, PSB have often been on the border between pop and dance.

@ Olivier: what are the videos that you can't see? I'll try posting other copyright-free links. Here's one for "Enjoy the Silence", I hope it works.

Off topic: this has nothing to do with dance music, but I just discovered it and I think it's so damn funny that I definitely have to link it here. Peter Kay as Geraldine McQueen - The Winner's Song. (There is a better, proper music video of this on YouTube, but I guess that Vevo won't show it everywhere. :D)

Ugo, couldn't see the videos that only had a link, so I didn't even know what they were about. Now I know it's Enjoy The Silence, which I do, and even more being silent. I prefer Never Let Me Down Again, it builds up better. Enjoy The Silence sounds too much like springs in my opinion. But since you admitted being a Beatles fan, I can see why you love it. ;) That being said, my 2nd favorite from them. It's all digital sounding and then the blonde guy lets his guitar creak, magical... a bit like Dark Star in a way. Do you know if the guy in the back behind a keyboard makes as much money as the others? He doesn't seem to do much.

Personally, I put Pet Shop Boys in my dance playlist. Pop, it's more things like Dido.

Sorry, I don't understand. What do you mean by "springs"? The reason why I prefer that song to NLMDA is that I find the latter a bit repetitive, both in the lyrics and in the melody. I think EtS has a better development on both areas. However, I agree with you on the build-up.

Sounds like boing boing boing to me. Makes me jump like a Beatle. NLMDA makes me wave my arms.
