When I were a lad (well about 17), the childrens TV programme on BBC Blue Peter got Mike to do the them tune and one of the presenters went along to help. I think his name was Simon Groome and he played snare drum at the start.
The story lasted about 5 mins and it showed Mike recording and mixing the song building it up track by track. The finished theme was used for years at the opening and close of the programme and in my opinion it was beter than the single version.
I had the Blue Peter annual that year and it had a photo story of the recording.
Does anyone else remember it? or have the pictures from the book or even does any one have the recordong on Video.
I often think about this, I was a real fanatic in those days.
If Mike reads this do you remember it ?
have a nice wait (until the new album !;)

Yes I remember this. If I recall correctly, Mike slowed the track down to play the lead synth as by his own admission he couldn't play that fast.

I remember it too.  I'd love to see it again.  I followed a link for it sometime recently but it was a "dead end".

Yeh I have that on video. It is a repeat of it because it was in answer to the letter from Peter Evans saying he would like to see it again (dated 1979 on my tape). I also have a fantastic interview from 1976 where Mike was so shy he could barely speak. My tape lists it as 'All you need is Love - 1976 documentary/Interview'. The interviewer asked
"What didn't you like about the Pop Business?"
Mike "It's a bit silly isn't it? I think it is. I don't need to get involved in it."
"What sort of things?"
Mike "What sort of things are silly? Well (clears throat) Um I can't pretend at all. Unless I'm really drunk and then I don't pretend, I just make an exhibition of myself. It is making an exhibition of yourself isn't it. I'd rather do it here."
Precious. And then they show Mike walking through Hergest Ridge with Ommadawn playing. I have about 12 hours of this precious stuff, not good quality, but still precious.

I am shattered, I have 4 bootleg videos meticulously put together by a fan I met 6 years with professionally designed covers. He lent them to me but I didn't see again. The other week I bumped into an old friend who is an MO fan and I have invited him over this Saturday night, the 24th for a music night. He is bringing a mate, the guy who lent me the videos and now he wants them back. I have had them so long they are like my babies. (insert crying emoticon here).

Ask him to make copies for you.  And then send me copies!

I've got one day to try and copy them, (oh well, I had 6 years) and the quality is really bad in parts, but there are definite rarities in there so I will try and copy them and let you know how they turn out.

Some nice replies, thanks.
It would be nice to get those vrare videos up on  a site somewhere.
Would any one interested is seeing some old interviews?
They are:
An article in a hi-mag called my hi-fi and me (his studio)
A one from NME (or sounds) about incantations
A one in a sunday suplement - QE2 i think
A small article from smash hits  Arival ?
