This song was first printed in England in 1611 under the title: "A Most Strange Weddinge Of The Froge And The Mouse."

Well, we can consider it as traditional ;)

As far I can see from the lyrics, the Boss omitted the tragic ending of the story in Mike's version... :D

I don't think of it as a Mike song... more like a song he covered. I heard other versions of "Froggy" long before I ever heard Oldfield's, and even long before he ever recorded it. The same goes for "Sailor's Hornpipe" and "I Got Music".

Flash and gleam among the oak-trees,
Laugh and leap into the valley."

i didn't mean 100% mike song, but as we know, it is a mike song..
It is traditional, but we know that mike have a important place here, and it will be funny to hear a new version of it.

Sorry, I've never much cared for Bruce.  I listened to this and once is enough.  I guess that for what it is, it's okay, but I have no desire to ever listen a second time.

Years ago, a good friend of mine, who was the ultimate Bruce fan made a bet with me.  He said that if only I would go to a Bruce concert and watch him live, I would change my mind.  I consented, but only if he would go to a Todd Rundgren concert with me (at the time, and still today, right up there with MO).  Well we went to both.  He fell in love with Todd and his music.  I was bored at the Bruce concert.  Watching Nils Lofgren was the highlight of the show for me - especially when he would jump on the trampoline.

Thanks for the song Tubularman!

Well, it's an interesting version of Froggie Went A-Courtin... But I really do prefer the version by Romina Power ;)
