The singer of 'Man in the Rain', Cara Dillon's 3rd album, After the Morning will be released next Monday. You can listen to some of the tracks (in full length) on her redesigned website. The homepage has become way more informative and stylish, it's worth checking it.

Looks like it needs another redesign. There is no excuse for a home page where you have to sit a while and wait for it to load even on broadband. (sorry, I just hate bad web design).

Hmmm. It just told me I needed a Flash 8 plugin to view the site. I can't be bothered. Why should I download some special software just to view one website?

So that's two people now who've been put off visiting her site.

Putting flash on a site is a way of the webmaster saying NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG. The only real use it has is for animated web cartoons and things like that.

You shouldn't need obscure plug-ins just to get to a home page. If you don't have Flash and are tempted to get it, don't: it really slows pages like this down, and there are a lot of adverts that you never see if you keep Flash-free.

Well you learn a little every day. Thanks Hiawatha.

All this seems bad news for Ms Dillon's website.

What's this anti-visiting campaign? :) You can view it also with Flash 7, there's a text on the bottom you can click on if you have it. It would really be nice to have a non-Flash version of the site, and they might do it as it was pointed out also in the message board. Probably they wanted an easy way that you can listen to her tracks in high quality without having to wait too much (it uses audio streams).

(Anyway, as you can see, I have no problems with Flash. ;))

For the latter I'd rather recommend using an adblocker plugin. ;) Though it really slows pages down somewhat, but rather only in the beginning, then it could be even faster than a regular page.

Lovely website and I didn't have to wait at all for it to load - only have 1MB Broadband as well...
I have to say I really love Caras's voice, but some of her non-traditional stuff can be just a wee bit too Middle of the Road for my liking! Still, when she sings unaccompanied something like Brockagh Brae, it's impossible not to get shivers...
Looking forward to hearing the whole album...
BTW theres a link to an interview on BBC Radio Ulster from last Friday in which Mike Oldfield gets a major plug! Gerry Anderson the Interviewer, brings up TBIII and Cara says what an amazing experience it was just meeting Mike, seeing his way of doing things in his studio in Ibiza, and singing such a beautiful song...
Interviewer finishes by saying that Mike is an amazing guy and that he "changed music"!

I was searching for some Cara Dillon videos on youtube the day before, and I found myself weeping (of joy) when I saw this live orchestral version of Black of the Colour:

Anyway, she's pregnant at the moment. :) It's a pity that she probably won't visit Hungary in the next few years...

Garden Valley is also a favourite.

I said in January that she was pregnant but she already gave birth to her twins then, unfortunately some months earlier than expected :/, but they're all well since then.

But now, she's on tour again, besides Irish and English venues she also takes a trip into the United States. :) Information about it are on her website.

To whet your appetite: :)
