yeah I read this yesterday , I hear it is a new craze in England called happy slapping, usually the victim is on his/her own and targeted to be basically beat up as the friends of the attacker's record the incident on mobile phones. The cop's are on to it and hopefully these arseholes will be victim's of their own craze, the sooner it is sorted the better.

Agreed. But what idiot thought up the name "happy slapping". It isn't happy for the poor unfortunate victim and it is more than just a friendly type slap that you would greet someone with; it is a vicious unprovoked assault. Let's just hope the perpetrators get caught and punished by the police before they can inflict this stupidity on more people.

Poor Caroline.  :/ She had to suffer so much already.

This craze is an absolute f**king disgrace. It appears the victims are becoming more and more vulnerable. I doubt they pick on anyone their own size and number.  :(

Poor Caroline, indeed. What happened to her is beyond horribe and I hope the perpetrators rot in hell.

In a week's time, my kids and I will be in the UK (a few days in London then heading out). I was initially concerned about the usual.....looking the right way before crossing a street, getting lost on the Tube...but this.....this just adds a brand new dimension of worry.....though I am fairly sure that if we were involved in that, Scotland Yard would just be able to follow the trail of blood...... (2 of us know self defense and one is just plain ornery). Avoidance of bad situations is the first rule of self-defense, but it looks like Caroline's attack happened in a good area. What precautions are being advised other than avoiding gangs of hooded people? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4539913.stm

Sorry, it might be another person with the same name - not sure. The article says she's a writer. There was a photo of her with the article, but I'm not sure, as she looks a bit different after the chemo. Funny how in the early '80's there was a Dire Straits book by an author called Michael Oldfield!

During what years did she manage Mike, if she did?
