Yes, they are fast, and quite popular here in Finland, a friend of mine used to like them too.

Their name comes from the lake Bodom, where three people were brutally murdered in the 1960's. The case was never solved. I guess they're trying to be scary or something, but lake Bodom has actually been a very peacefull family camping ground for a long time now, I used to go swimming there as a kid. I don't know if the band members even know how NOT scary that lake is nowadays.

And yes, if the music was slower, it would propably be quite boring (not that I like it now).

OK, you know the story. :)

The kid that survived was actually a suspect, but he was released.

Interesting to see a thread about them, as metal artists get surprisingly little recognition on here. (Surprising because I do feel that Mike's music shares some common ground with metal.) Personally though, while Children of Bodom might be mildly entertaining, I feel there are much more interesting bands in the genre.

i personally dont like such type of metal...i havent heard more than few excerpts from CoB but it was souding about same style as Cradle of Filth which isnt my music either...from finnish metal bands i listend alot of band called Stone...its old one so new metal fans might not heard about them.

Usually i listen trash metal like Testament, Prong, Kreator...and generally most german 80s metal bands...

I agree with holger about thet Mike shares something with metal. I think thet Mike is the one of the first thet put the "angry voice"(metal singing:) in the tubular belles part II (caveman).
