Sallyangie's Children Of The Sun, originally released in 1968, has been re-released by Castle Music (CMRCD545) as a 2CD set with singles, previously unreleased tracks and BBC sessions. It's available for £9  at Amazon.co.uk.

Get it! Get it for tracks 2-4 on the bonus cd. It's got the original acoustic guitar version of the Uillean Pipe bit from Ommadawn on it! And at least three complete themes from Amarok. F...ing gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got this amazing 2 cd set, but I wonder why tracks 18 and 19, plus the BBC sessions don't appear as announced before... Is it a last minute © problem or should we wait another extra edition? Grrrrrr!!!!! And why tracks 20 and 24 are put as if they were in the original CD. They'd better be in the bonus track cd...
We should bomb Sanctuary records with e-mail questions...   info@sanctuaryrecords.co.uk

Just had to say it all, but I like it quite a lot....

By the way, wasn't Simon Heyworth working now for this company???

Alex, The track listing is correct except for the spelling mistake on track 16 which should be Strangers rather than Stranglers.

just got the reissue of Children of the sun cd.
The new tracks with Mike on guitar are superb especially Branches with early versions of Amarok and the sublime
A sad sond for rosie which is the first version of the bagpipe duet on side two of ommadawn. A real discovery and worth buying just for these new found recordings.

This is marvellous go and order it now it's mega mega mega.
Amazing to think sections of Amarok and for that matter Ommadawn were written long before Mike decided to flesh them out and commit them to tape.Only goes to show his masterful compositional and performance greatness.

Now then Mike you owe it to yourself and the fans to rework, re record Mrs Moon and the Thatched shop.        :D

Did we ever get to the bottom of this? On Amazon.co.uk at present there are two versions of the CD set listed. One, the £9 one, is as listed above by alexander. The second one is listed as an "import" with "bonus tracks" for £19.99. Could this version perhaps include the additional seven tracks listed in Nacho's post?

I'd like the lot, so if you know the answer, and/or WHERE the import version originates, please help.
:)

The amazon page you are taken to by the link at the top of this one contains no mention of any import as far as I can see, the price for the 2CD rerelease is 8.99. I'd quite like any clarification if anybody knows any different because I've already got 'children of the sun' on cd but I intend to buy the new version only for the new tracks and I don't want to order the CD I've already got. I guess quite a lot of you will be in the same situation.

I´ve heard some tracks from it(especially the ones recommended by some of you and there´s a guy singing some stuff on it...if it´s Mike,geez...he sounds quite different from what you can hear on Ommadawn(On Horseback).Teenage voice...

Yes, it is Mike singing. His voice sounds stronger on On Horseback, I think, but it's a slightly different style of singing there anyway. I think that his voice suits the material on 'Children of the Sun' quite well.
