He says he plans to be pretty drunk for it, but I'm gonna pull him by the hand. After, we'll both get piss drunk.

I've dreamt a while ago that Mike got the award...but I think that he will not win this time.

I'm using the Force to influence the molecules in the Universe, to ensure Mike wins.

Use the force dude!
Seriously though it would be a great thing for him to win but to be shortlisted for his first classical album is an acheivement in itself IMHO.The fact that it went to number one in the Classical charts speaks volumes. As much as i love the whole TB series he could be seen as being guilty of spending too long tinkering with it.I know MOTS has elements of TB it still stands on it's own merits as a complete peice.

Just realised i mentioned 5 oldfield peices/albums in the last 2 sentences without even trying.(TB,MOTS,Guity,Complete,Elements......god help me...i spend far too much time listening to Oldfield or on this site!!!;).

The awards started at 8pm in the Albert Hall - but it's not on T.V as far as I know - not in Britain.

As Simmo said in the first post, I don't think this is broadcast until next Tuesday 19th May at 10:35pm on ITV1 in the UK.

I'm inclined to agree with the article by Michael White - "some kind of joke."

We all know who's the REAL winner.

< Ok - group hug moment > :/

And what a joke it was.

If Mike had lost to someone "serious" from the classical world,it's fine, but losing it to a bunch of bagpipers makes me laugh. The same would apply if The Priests or the people from The Salvation Army had won it.

At least he had his name back to the spotlight in the UK for a few moments again!
