There is apparently a memorial to him in Chalfont St. Giles - http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/trlout/TRA13545.html

Does it have something to do with sandwiches?

Admiral Sir Hugh Palliser, a great friend of Captain Cook, lived in Chalfont St Giles, where he was Lord of the Manor. When Captain Cook died, Palliser built a memorial in the grounds of his house, The Vache. It was apparently the first memorial to Captain Cook ever built.

More information and pictures can be found at the site of the Captain Cook Society.

Captain Cook is credited with discovering some very large sandwiches.

P.S. If you want to correct spellings, you can just use the 'edit' button at the top of your post (but please, only edit spellings and other minor things, and don't change the whole meaning of what you've said, unless you've only just that moment posted it - once people have read it, it tends to be annoying, if not flat out dishonest).

P.P.S. You might want to make that 'sandwiches'...you might also want to make some sandwiches while you're at it, people rarely bother getting the admins any food. It's about time that changed.

The huge sandwiches Cap'n Cook discovered are quite a mouthful. Yet, covered in pineapple as they are, they can perhaps be a tasty dish.

No sooner said than done.

Arron? Let the guy have one of your sandwiches for Pete's sake.....

(You want a 1973 or a 2003 sandwich, Korgscrew?)

As one who currently enjoys the benefits of Mr. Cook's endeavours (amongst others), I'd also like to vote a round of sandwiches to admin by way of thanks for maintaining the forum.  Uh, oh...er...gonna have to get back to you on that one...looks like cook's drunk again....what shall I do with 'im?
