I was just about to throw away our local evening newspaper (which I hardly ever read) when I looked in the "what's on" section. And there I saw "Sandford Village Hall, : Intimate guitar evening to raise funds to save local post office/store. Steve Howe with some new pieces."

Yep, Steve Howe from YES, raising funds for his village.

And I have to baby-sit tonight! Arghh... why do I always find out about these things too late? Last year I missed Lemon Jelly at the local University bar.

Anyway, 2 questions.......

what was the most frustrating event you just missed out on?

where would you ask Mike to play local to you?

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

That looks like a rather remote location. Couldn't Steve have paid for the upkeep of the Post Office straight up?

I believe Cara Dillon performed at the Phoenix a month or two ago. I only read about it in the paper after it had happened too.

guess the answer to the question about babysitting is it's called the "Law Of Sod".

As for events I'm frustrated at missing out on, it's difficult to pick one, but I would say missing Queen play at Knebworth in 1986, what was to be their last performance. I was 15 at the time and my parents wouldn't let me go    :( .  I thought next time, but unfortunately Freddie Mercury became too ill with Aids to tour again.

I also missed Mike at Horseguards Parade or Wembley '99, difficult when you look after a disabled partner especially one who isn't really a Mike fan, as it's finding someone to sit in my absence.

The Who and Pink Floyd at Live 8 last year, This ROCKED   :)  :D  .For reasons see above, we both like Floyd and The Who, but again it's finding someone to sit, as I don't fancy driving in central London,  plus some railway/tube stations not accessible for wheelchair users, plus can be difficult with crowds.

Metallica when they played Earl's Court in '94,my husband moaned about me wanting to spend £25 on a ticket so I never went, despite me earning   MY own  wages :p ,just 'cause he doesn't like Metallica.

To answer the second question I guess The Hat Factory in Luton,or The Alban Arena in St Albans would be my nearest.
Speaking of venues Kevin Bloody Wilson, (Austrailian stand up comedian, can be a bit rude, played the local leisure centre a few years ago).

The most frustrating event I missed out on was Mikes Adelaide Concert in the early 80's but I can't use the word 'just' because I didn't even know about it until about 15 years later when I was at the hairdressers and I mentioned to the young lady doing my hair that I liked Mike Oldfield. She told me her Mum had taken her to see Mike in concert when she was about 9 years old.

I hate getting up early. I didn't even realise there were two 6 o'clocks in one day!
