hello all,
I have been thinking and it seems like a good idea to me, but would it be possible to try and get a definitive price guide set up, i decided to try and value my collection, for no reason other than to see what a little gold mine i had / had not got, but it seems to me that there are quite alot of different values for the same records, and im bored of trawling through the internet trying to find them!  :D

just an idea, but i feel one worthy of this amazing site!

( notice the brown nosing! lol)

Rainer Münz already has a rough price guide on his discography site.

I personally think that the only sensible way of putting together a list of items and their values would be to base it on his work, as it would take us forever to do it ourselves, and we'd end up with the same list of items! I can talk to him and see if he's interested in working with us - his price guide hasn't been updated for several years, and we could probably get something more accurate together, with the help of all the collectors out there.

I'd think the best way might be to have some kind of dynamic system where people can send in what they've paid for the items, with it showing the lowest price, the highest price, and an average of them all. We can talk about it and see what's possible.

Thanks,
sounds like a great idea, and one that would be fun to involve the rest of the forum community, the main reason like i said is to get a fairly accurate worth of collections, but also to see what sort of prices we should be paying for building our collections, i've seen some ridiculous prices on Ebay for Mike's records, but in a way i suppose they are as valuable as someone is willing to pay, but it's still nice to know how much you should be paying, i hope Rainer is interested in this idea!

thanks again

I like this idea Bugular Tell, im also interested to see what are decent prices for Mikes stuff. I also find that the prices vary on different sites. Taking up Korqscrews advice, i have also looked at Rainer Munz`s discography and it is the most definative guide to Mikes recordings Et Al that i have seen. However, it would be nice to see his prices updated to reflect todays market values.  :)

Just to give a progress update, Rainer has no problems with this idea, so Olivier and I will now work on turning it into something usable. There might be some other changes under the bonnet of tubular.net to go with it. We'll see how far we get, really!
