Yes, I did it.

I was in possession of all Mike albums in old CD editions.

And I bought them all again when they released the remastered editions.

I just want to know if someone else did that.

Finally, it was a good idea, because when my ex girlfriend and me separated, she got the old ones and I kept the remasters. I had to buy Voyager again and also The songs of distant earth, and in this case it was a good reason to buy the special edition (with the MAC bonus things...). She was also liking Mike Oldfield, but I'm pretty sure she don't listen to them anymore (we have a shared guard of our little girl so I see her often and she never talked about Mike anymore). You know, these girls who follow what their man likes...

No, I haven't. Are they better? I am a little bit doubtful on newer masters as they often master for loudness and lose a lot of dynamic in the process. Mike's music needs dynamic!

I never did the comparison. This would be a great thing to do. I will try to ask my ex to lend me two or three albums so I can try that.

I was thinking that it was sure they are sounding better, but maybe I'm mistaken here...

I think that I have to buy remasters. Especially the Incantations. Not all of course but my MO priorities are: TB Box (maybe on my birthday), TB II, TB III, Hergest Ridge, Ommadawn, Exposed, Incantation (I've never seen the CD in Poland, only 2xLP version so I would buy the remaster).

I never really bothered about buying the HDCD remasters for most of the customer reviews didn't give any sign of sound improvement - sorry to say, Simon Heyworth.

:/

But I started to buy all remasters from The Collection on since Mark Powell and his team have done a wonderful job in bringing all the tiny little bits of Mikes music into life again.

And I am really looking forward to hearing Incantations and maybe some more music in all its beauty very soon again.

:)

"Exposed" album remaster would be nice. It's unavailable in Poland on CD... :(

The sound of the first albums was slightly improved, but it don't really impress me.
But most annoying are the artworks and the many mistakes in the credits.
