I only realized very recently that this theme is used in so many places.

I was at a Lang Lang concert the other day, he was playing Rach 2 concerto and this uses Dies Irae too. I think Tubular Bells opening is using more Dies Irae than Bach too.

The only musicians not using it is Enigma. :)

I put on my Sky hat to remember that they recorded a version of Dies Irae, eventually included on one of the CD versions of their first album, that was backed by their interpretation of Berlioz' March to the Scaffold.  And what do you hear if you listen to all of Symphonie Fantastique?  If composers ever thought they might be on the debit ledger of Him Upstairs, it never hurt to sneak in a bit of Dies Irae or Te Deum!

I love this so much, for me it comes closest to expressing what real fury feels like inside...I don't mean shouting and being aggressive...not that I am a furious type of person, but if I have ever had cause to be, then this is how deep it 'feels' :O
