Hi.Just been checking out the DVD discussions and it occurs to me that Mike must have been a real swine to work with live.Witness the look shot at Morris Pert on Platunum just past the intro.
What do you all think?Better still pictorial evidence or bits in dvds we can go away and look at.

On the Knebworth video there's a moment like that. I think it's Peter Lemer or Tim Cross that comes in wrong with a keyboard (and I think the track is Tubular Bells pt 1, a quiet passage). Mike doesn't look too happy!

And when Mike himself has problems on his performance,he gets quite sad!

Mike Oldfield.100% Perfectionist.

That's true. Most of the time when he's making faces on stage it's because of his own mistakes.
The things he play are bloody hard to play too. There's no random "shredding" in which to hide mistakes.

Talking of fiery looks shot by Mike at band members... there's a very nice one [in the positive sense! :)] in the beginning of Dark Star on the TBII Edimburgh video. Mike is in the middle of one of his fast guitar runs when he suddenly looks behind him (presumably towards one of the other guitarists, hard to tell which one - there were four of them! :D) and a "what the fuck are you doing" kind of stare :p appears in his eyes. Evidently one of them got his own part of the run wrong. Mike, afterwards, replayed the part himself.

I think if memory serves it's Tim Cross that Mike gives the 'Oldfield stare'.Thought of another this weekend.TB part 2 Live on Exposed.Mike is obviously coming to the end of his solo and turns to give the cue.The band miss it as Mike lurches through the passage he always plays here to lead out of it into the Sailors Hornpipe (he even puts it after the Bagpipe bit on Montreux).50 musicians get The Stare. :)
