Does anyone know if Mike took drugs when he was in Ibiza?
I just wondered if his Ibiza-tinged work was in any way influenced by chemicals.

Also, does anyone know Mike's stance on drugs?

Cheers

Well without trying to get to deep into a topic which is highly contentious I dare say Mike would say drugs are very bad for you, simply because they are. Unfortunately they can be also very enjoyable, thats obviously the problem. Like a lot of people though Mike has used drugs, as have I,  and likes a drink, as do I. Is it bad for you? Of course but its just part of life for some people, and unfortunately it can be a very bad part of peoples lives, but not always.

Exactly!
Its not always good or bad. It depends on the person that is using them drugs. If the drug use(or "experimenting") gets in the way of your work, school, relationships or your health, then its bad! Its all up to the person that is using, its all comparative(or relative if you will).
Mike propably felt that drugs were not doing any good for him and since he has kept up the goodwork, I think he has done the right thing for himself and for all(most)of us.

Well there was that time when he was high on coke(I believe) and crashed his Mercedes into a brick wall, and wandered the field all night and was found the next morning asleep in the field.

The above remark was made half based on what I read in a magazine and half based on humour as I may not fully recall the facts, boom boom.

Drugs never seem to get in the way of work for Mike, but he's also one of those persons who seem to be able to get things done under *any* circumstances.
From what I understand, there was an enormous intake of Alcohol during the recording of Ommadawn and yet Mike managed to acheive perfection. Plus he produced the album himself. I think has a good deal of work-ethic and a great ability to focus on a project.

Considering the circumstances in his life ca 1974, it's a wonder he didn't end up in an institution.

Mike never ended up in rehab. He seems to be able to undertake the necesary changes in his when a situation is threatening to get out of hand. All this in his own special way ;-)

Just thank goodness that neither M.O or,anyone else was harmed during that incident(if magazine fodder is to be beleived).Anyway, true fact or not we are all only human and some of us tend to do things that may either not be good/healthy for us/society around us,at a given time.Though hopefully not too often, and in the extreme.

And just thank goodness too, that there wasn't a bull in that field or,might have gone another way :O
