Now i have it...  :D
what can i say about this Mastermind creator of wonderful music?
"A Posteriori" really found my heart and listen right away. This is music right from the dark above us, the univers, the music is on the moon looking at the blue planet, a voyage right through all the elements i imagine wonderful. The atmosphere in his songs this E6 times is shade and calm, but the album have the up tempo momements.
First track "Epur Si Mouve" starts with familiar sound we have heard from Enigma before, but the song turns slowly into another world, and there is a typical voice of Enigma. Latin chant in vocoder effect with a carefull uptempo rythm. A good start..

so "Feel me heaven"
A chill start with all those sounds effects around you, then the tempo is starting. Its like a heart. This is in someway a strong melody. "Feel me…. Feel me….. Feel me….. Heaven!...." starts and those lyrics goes on and on in the song til its end.
I specially like how Cretu plays with the rythm. This is good.

then "Dreaming of Andromeda" (one of my favorite track)
I think this is close to Jarre in someway. The atmosphere is relaxing. This a jewel with nice silver and gold. Thanks to the female operatic voice who lead the song.

"Dancing with Mephisto"
Now it darker... More mysterious (but that is Enigma of course)
Clever use of guitar in the background. And the voice is a bit weird and scary. I like the voice.
The rythm is a leader in this song to and it works 100%. Then suddenly fades out into..

"Northern lights"
this must be the break in the album. Suddenly you have the feeling of beeing surrounded of northern lights. The pictures of the sounds, use of synth ect.. tells you very good in a chill out way.

"Invisible love"
’’I’ll follow you….I’ll follow you…Oooh Rescue Me’’ , words speaken through the songs. For first time Cretu have played the classic guitar!! Mystical again, and wondeful of course. Dream you self away with this one.. This is a good slow trance song.

"Message from 10"
now back to the same style we found in "Northern lights" i feel like traveling though space while i listen to this.
You can clearly hear it the sounds, they are fading out and in and its like 360 degree sound way.

"Hello and welcome"
This a mix of a early released singel from 2005. Now he have taken the vocals almost away and replaced it with new loops and rythms. The outstanding guitar solo is still there!

"20.000 miles over the sea"
Now we are flying again. very high over the earth and watch it all. I can see it clearly for me. Latin chant again on this flying song. Calm and delight is the word.

"Sitting on the moon"
WOW i love it. This is huge lovely. I fall in love in this song. Great how it starts. We have surely landed on the moon. and you allready miss the one you love on the earth. But its so still and quiet to watch down on the earth.
"where are you??? where are you? I am Sitting on the Moon’’
i must say that cretu have a wondeful strong voice that touch me inside. I almost got tears from this one.
A favorite number 1

so over to favorite number 2
"The Alchemist"
Now more uptempo, now it is time to get into the milkyway and have a fast flying trip through all kinds places. I just looooove how the rythm comes in with the synth light choir in the background. Its like a ommadawn horse on a enigma song. Would  be a pleasure to hear mike do a guitar solo on this one, but anyway, so good!!

"Goodbye milkyway"
the title tells it self. The last song in the album. It is nice and the lyrics are wonderful.
"’Shall I go? Shall I Stay? 107 light years away, many times, so many doubts, but no reason to talk about.’’ ‘’Mission is over, mission is done, I’ll miss you children of the sun. But it’s time to go away, goodbye , goodbye milky way!’’ For a better world, without hate, follow your heart, believe in fate, only visions and the mind will guide you to the light!’’.
it is magic and i feel the albums ends. But i like very much how the album ends. Every album must have a end. That is a must. And it must be good. Not short fade out, but a good one. This song have a good end.

‘’In 5 billion years…The Andromeda galaxy will collide with our Milky Way, a new gigantic COSMIC WORLD will be born..’’ The end of the code, the end of the mission until the next one…A Minor C, an M.C"

end

if we say 1 - 6, i give it 5!
A good 5. This fits into my inside world very good. The songs move me and it is wonderful. Enigma Michael Cretu have not lost  it. I think the album before this one is the worst of his.
It really what i excepted Light and shade to be like. Specially Shade. But this is Enigma and not mike.
I bought this album and am happy with it  :D

always wonderful to be happy when you have bought something you really like....

Apart from the fact that I agree with almost everything that you wrote :), I don't think it's a voice at all in "Andromeda". I think it's a Theremin. [Korgscrew, where are you? :)] OK, you can safely say that I'm obsessed :p :D ... but to me it really sounds like a Theremin.

I heard the album, and I like it.
But to me it's a less Enigma-sounding album like the other albums he made (I own the first three ones). I think it's got less vocal and less choirs... but still nice tunes.
I love the opening track. He always uses that same recognisable whining sound in the beginnings of his album... I love that.
Thanks Kay for sending it  :D

Listen to the chorus of Good Vibrations by Beach Boys. You can hear it in there. It's a whining electonic sound. Very nice.  :)

aha.. but it is true. This is not a real voice. But i love it.
My god how good this album is. Im really suprised..
True the enigma sounds is more gone, but i think that a good sign. He have made the best album of his own.
But thats me  ;)

Sitting on the moon... reminding me Marko's cartoon:

(Jarre said in an interview he'd love to do a concert on the moon.)

Thank you Tubularman!  I picked the disc up on my way home from work and just listened to it loud on a decent sound system.  Now I'm listening to it on my computer and it still sounds good.

Really, really enjoying it.  Wouldn't have known it was out if not for you.   :)

hello Pendragon  ;)
you are just welcome.
When i come over a good album i just get the share feeling so 100%
And im so mad, because here in Norway he dont get no media. I get so messed up with only the same boring music around over and  over...
Why never let the new age, world music, ect ect get the change and let people know it?
There is such a beutiful music we never get to know..
It is sad becuase it is so many wonderful music landscapes around. But they are gone and the media kill them with bad reviews.

Then i must shout and scream about good music!!!
But dont misunderstand me folks. I know that not everybody loves everything. Also pop and rap can be good, but there is to much bad reviews when we read about music from such a good album like this "a posteriori" or others...

I'm still listening to it.  I just can't stay still.. it makes me want to move.

I know what you mean about musical wastelands, as I live in Western Canada (Cowboy country).  But.. I'll be taking this in to work tomorrow and doing my best to spread the word.

Thanks again!

I think "A Posteriori" - it's absolutely wonderful. For me it's the best one since MCMXC a.D. I think the more minimalistic and simple approach really makes the album accessible and draws you in.

I do like all their albums - with Voyager being the weakest. The second album was a good progression from the first and Le Roi est moi, vive le Roi! was different still, but with more vocals and lyrical songs. That album had a limiting appeal for me, despite containing some great music.

I loved the Screen Behind the Mirror, but I think that the formulae was starting to lose it's impact after then.

So for me, "A Posteriori" is, as the name suggests, more retrospective, and is closer in style to the earlier work. Very upbeat and optimistic, despite not being the most original.

I've only had it for 2 days and I'm completely addicted to it.

Dancing With Mephisto, Hello And Welcome and 20.000 Miles Over The Sea are my favourites at the moment.

Here in Hungary I heard an advertisement in the radio station I sometimes listen to. :) Here, it's not so general that an album gets promotion there.

Hello,
For me this album is a fantastic one. It’s really darker than the others of Michael Cretu. It has got really a special atmosphere. I have listened a lot to it the last days.

The cartoon from Marco, Olivier has put in this thread is great. I like it! That's it "sitting on the moon" ;) Great!!

Greetings
Jörg
