I was watching an episide of CSI Miami a while ago, a really good one, while(whilst some of you say) enjoying a bourbon and diet coke. I know it sounds strange, but diet coke tastes just as good as a mixer with bourbon as the the classic coke and bourbon. Without all the sugar. Anyway as I began to get a buzz off the alkeehol, my mind wandered and I saw a new episode/script of CSI Miami in my mind. An english retired rock star(whom we all know) who recently relocated himself to the Bahamas and is now a middle-aged boat/water enthusiast, practically Popeye the sailor now, from the pics and news I've read recently, decides a few days before hurricane Bill is to do a close fly-by of the Bahamas, to boat over to Miami to enjoy the cuisine and entertainment there for a few days. Once he secures his vessel and procures a room in Miami, he's out on the street one morning at street-side cafe enjoying breakfast when several gunshots ring out. He's very close to the action, perhaps even sees some faces during the scenario. Horatio Caine and co. come in and question everyone, and take GSR swabs, including our "Mr. Oldfield" which no one in Miami really knows, since his fame was mainly in Europe except for a few of us "cult" followers scattered(plot) around the US. Our aging rock star(they won't believe his story that he is famous, TB etc.) and for the first half of the episode he is questioned constantly, considered a suspect(since he had gunshot residue on him, he was so close). More suspects and sub-plots unfold and ultimately Mr. Oldfield is dismissed as a suspect. Towards the end of our episode he has some interaction with the hot blonde cop(Emily Proctor) in which she makes a remark, "Well, sometimes I have to lie my ass off to get the truth out of a suspect". Mr. Oldfield watches her walk away, eyes on her very shapely butt. Says to Horatio, "My, my, from what I can see, she still has a few lies left in her." Then, as usual, there is a "musical portion" at the end. "The Inner Child" from TB3 is played as they pan between shots of a dead body in the morgue and how it got that way. Mr. Oldfield gets on his boat and heads for the Bahamas and home, hurricane Bill having past......End credits.......
Phil Collins dabbled in acting since he was a kid. In the 80's he was guest star in a famous "Miami Vice" episode. I don't remember the whole thing but I remember Don Johnson let him go, let him drive out of town in a fancy sports car. It would be fun to see my CSI Miami episode done in real life. All Mike would need to do is "play himself".
Well, I thought that was a fun Tubular moment. Be sure and eat all your vegetables Tubularians.....

Roger Daltry`s been in one of the CSI`s hasn`t he(can`t remember which one) Then again he does act a bit. They should do a CSI show in the UK,and base it around our own fine upstanding justice system. They could use Fiddling About as it`s theme tune......

I`d say this would be a cool episode Jim,I`m all for raising Mike`s profile in Amercia even at this stage in his career.I`d be up for it just for that shot of Emily Proctor`s behind which I`m now picturing quite vividly in fact.Although perhaps the biggest fantasy of all with that show is that someone like her would ever become a cop in the first place. Then again with a voice like hers she could charm the hind legs off a donkey,so I`m maybe off base with that?Get on board the mule train to the state penitentiary, there`s a sucker born every minute.

I don`t know if Horatio would call him "Mr Oldfield" or if he`d just use his surname about five times in every sentance in that oddly disturbing way that he does..."Mike,what happened Mike?.You were there Mike, were`nt you Mike!..Mike?" It`s a great way of doubling your own lines in every scene. If you took away all his "ad-libs" the show would probably be about 20 minutes long. And then if you took away all the "musical interludes" along with it as well, the show would be so short it probably would`nt be worth broadcasting at all.....
