Most of Mike's album covers have been really great. I just wondered what everyone's favourites (overall album artwork) were... let's say top 5?

Mine:

1 - The Songs of Distant Earth
2 - Tubular Bells
3 - Guitars
4 - Voyager
5 - XXV

Hmm, tricky!  I'll go for these:

1. The Songs of Distant Earth
2. Guitars
3. Amarok
4. Crises
5. Tubular Bells II

I like the XXV cover, but it's too focused on the letters.  I prefer the covers where it's a photo of Mike, or a scene that makes you think.

There was a giant poll on favorite album covers ca one year ago. It was a giant thread with hundreds of posts, but it was deleted by the siteowners for no apparent reason.

I think the best covers are Five Miles Out and Tubular Bells (including a couple of its variations). But my personal favorite is Ommadawn 'cause Mike is awfully attractive there.

Oh geez...I like the most of them so much in their own way.
But Platinum, Five Miles Out and TSODE is quite something and why not Heavens Open.
The Tubular Bells symbole is quite unique on all them TB albums.  :)

What somehow doesn't really catch me is Hergest Ridge and Incantations I've to admit. The Millenium Bell cover makes me think more of a junkyard - a bit overkill there. :p Well, that's just my taste I guess.

So long as this is just about the covers, and not the content...

1)Earth Moving
2)Guitars
3)Crises
4)Hergest Ridge
5)Heaven's Open

:D

I'm sorry, I just went through my collection and there are only 3 that I really like:

1) Platinum - no contest for me, I've always loved this album cover

2) Tubular Bells - it's a classic just like the contents

3) Five Miles Out

I like the record version of Exposed with all the photos from the tour. I also like the multiple guitar picture on the Guitars CD, but I don't think these count in this case.

I like, in no particular order,

Tubular Bells II (I have a big poster of it :D )
Amarok
Voyager
Crises (if it includes the moon, gotta love it :) )
Tr3s Lunas (like I said... ;) )

I also like the picture on the actual CD of Guitars :)

I would have to say

Ommadawn for reasons above, and also love the way MIke is looking out from a rain streaked window:)  :D I just love Mike's Hippy look.
Tubular Bells
Hergest Ridge
TSODE
Crises/Guitars

I quite like Voyager too, but I feel the best pics from this shoot were left off the album   :O

1) TB (1973). Nothing can beat the original. :D
2) Islands
3) FMO
4) TBIII. I love its stark simplicity. ;)
5) Crises

... subject to change within 5 minutes, of course. :D

Yes, I go along with that. For me there are no other contenders.

For a start, any vinyl cover is better than any CD cover, because it's more ... hmm... sexy?

Five Miles Out folded vinyl cover blows up everything I've seen so far (including records of artists other than Mike).

cheers

After seeing the artwork for Music of the Spheres, I'm adding it to my list.

I've always found the "Five Miles Out" and "The Songs of Distant Earth" covers to be really great. And the other ones I would choose are "Platinum" and "Tubular Bells". I'm not sure about the fifth one...
