Mike has worked with many female vocalists in the past. The finest are Sally Oldfield and Maggie Reilly in my opinion, although he has worked with many more.

Which female vocalist would you like to see Mike work with in the future?

(Please stick to those he hasn't worked with before)

Annie Haslam. The best female vocalist I can think of. She's no stranger to progressive, and she has even done a cover of "Moonlight Shadow" on one of her CDs.

Yes - I think she would produce a similar affect to Maddy Prior. That would work well.

Personally, I would love to hear Kate Bush work with Mike.

Kate Bush was the name I thought of first.

I'd love to hear more collaborations with Cara Dillon. I know Mike has worked with her before, but I've always felt that Man in the Rain doesn't fit her voice perfectly.

Oh, and I almost forgot Stina Nordenstam. She has beatiful voice, too.

That's interesting as I've always regarded 'Man in the Rain' as my favourite female fronted pop song track by Mike.  :) Out of interest, who do you think Mike could have used whose voice would be better suited?

It's a good question. I don't know who would be more appropiate for MITR, but I feel Cara's voice a little too 'cold' there, I prefer her 'warmer' voice modulation on her own albums.

Last time I heard, Natalie Merchant left that band, and they are now 9,999 Maniacs.

Can you recommend a particular album of Cara's? Excuse my ignorance, but I never realised that she had released any solo albums. I love her voice on MITR and if her solo material is even better, then it's got to be worth a listen  :)

She has released only two albums: "Cara Dillon" and "Sweet Liberty". 10 songs out of 11 on "Cara Dillon" and 5 songs out of 12 on "Sweet Liberty" are traditional. But with a modern twist. The albums are both very good and very well produced, they appeal even to people who don't like traditional music. My favorite songs are traditional "Bonny Bonny" and Cara's self-penned "Broken Bridges", both from "Sweet Liberty".

SIA

She's an Aussie artist whose latest album is called 'Colour the small one', it's really beautifull.

I think on a few of his slower tracks Lisa Gerrard would sound excellent. For those who are not so familiar, she has appeared on soundtracks such as Black Hawk Down, The Insider, The Gladiator and Whalerider and was once a part of a group called Dead Can Dance. She has also done a few solo projects.
