Quote (TOBY @ May 03 2006, 18:31) | Is this actually a genuine sale? I think if it were Chandlers that were selling it they would have much more business like page. Whoever it is that is listing it seems to do a fine line in baby wear and christening gowns, and now vintage musical instruments, all things considered it's very weird and a touch sad. I still don't understand why someone who is apparently worth 30 million quid seems so desperate to part with such a historic item, why not give to a museum? Why not auction it off for charity? Still I guess thats all Mike's business. |
Have just looked on Chandlers webby, www.chandlerguitars.co.uk/chandler.asp?pid=19&ip=O&mn According to their webpage,Mike'sTelecaster was for sale as at 26 March, and I assumed still is as the page hasn't been updated. I understand £50,000 was the asking price, so how has it ended upon e-bay with bidding curently at £4,100.00 . Me thinks this auction will most probably go the same way as the Lowden auction.
Assuming the Telecaster on e-bay is Mike's, and the seller has the certificate to prove it, I'm wondering why he/she hasn't put a photo of the certificate along with the guitar pics ,Strange!!!! Something about this auction seems so wrong to me, such a historic guitar, played on a ground breaking album by a groundbreaking musician, ends up on ebay, for a few thousand quid ,how sad .
-------------- I'm going slightly mad, It finally happened, I'm slightly mad , just very slightly mad
