Do you mean the other way round? It depends on the wood type rather than the colour of the lacquer!
The darker woods produce warmer, jazzier sounds whereas brighter woods give a brighter tone. This difference is most noticeable in acoustic guitar tops. Cedar is mellower and spruce is brighter and generally used for strumming and rhythm work
